[At precisely midnight a clock bell tolls, loud and mournful in the quiet night. An owl screeches, the dramatic chords of an organ start to play then are cut short in a jangle of notes.

If you're awake a hoarse voice growls, it might wake you even if you're asleep.]

Arise, heroes, and sate your hunger.

[Those not sleeping through all this will find a sudden spike in their primal urges. The needs of any form they possess may overcome reason, and the desire to slake thirsts both literal and metaphorical is intense.

If you're a wolf perhaps you want to hunt or draw close to your pack, if your taste is in blood, well. If you're just human it might be that your darker desires, possessiveness or even curiosity get the better of you in ways you don't normally let them. Desires need not be violent or sexually charged, but should be things your characters harbor at least some inclination towards wanting even if they deny it usually. Fluffy desires are still desires.

By morning light the effects will fade. And you'll all feel far less tired than you'd expect for a night partying.]

[ Crow has been trying to behave.

He's been trying so hard, possibly a lot more than most people realize. There's only so much he can afford to act out with a group this small, with a mission this dire. So there's parts of himself he bottles, saves up for "later." But later never feels like it's coming and he's growing more restless by the moment.

So it's one in the morning when he slips out of the Licorice cabin and heads out of the train, making a beeline for the forest. He pulls out his twin guns as he moves. ]

[About when he reaches the trees a voice asks in his mind, calm and gentle.]

Going out?

[ He pauses in his steps for a moment. ]

Yeah. Figured I'd get rid of some of the local monsters.

Never hurts to have backup.

[ So that's a "yes." ]

[Lo. He just kinda. Appears next to Crow. Handy.]

[ His gaze slides over to Rean and he grins. ]

Hey. That's a neat trick.

[ Now that Crow's accepted the party lead position, he heads deeper into the forest, listening for the telltale sounds and sights of monsters in the area. He's ignoring anything that looks small-- he's looking for a challenge. ]

[We can two man a cryptid nbd.

Rean's following along. After all, he's the support character now, he'll just fight whatever it is Crow wants to tangle with. He doesn't have an ARCUS or a visible weapon but he'll be fine.]

[ Crow pretty much figures Rean wouldn't be joining him if he didn't have a way to fight. He doesn't think Rean's dumb-- not in that way, at least.

He'll keep going until he finds a nice, boss-sized gecko to fight. ]

[So this won't be awkward. Because Naeva, well, she's not getting enough food, she hasn't been the whole time, and not feeding becomes disastrous.

So the light catches her eyes and they glow, unsettling in the dark as she snaps her head up from the gekko she was uh.

draining of blood. She's covered in it, which is probably why she's dressed in her pajamas still-less to clean.

...She's just kind of frozen there. This is super awkward.]

[ Crow raises an eyebrow as he cocks his head in her direction. ]

Out for a midnight snack?

[ With his breezy tone, you might not even know he was mad at her earlier. ]

[She knows better, and kind of winces.]

...The blood bags aren't enough.

[She's eyeing those pistols kind of warily. Do not shoot dog again, pls.]

[ He's not gonna shoot the dog probably. ]

Why don't you ask your boytoy if he'd let you snack on him once in a while?

At the rate I'm hungry lately, that would probably kill him.

[Well. That's sure a thing. She stares for a while longer, and kind of wipes at her mouth some, before pointing into the forest.]

There's a really big one that way.

Huh. Thanks for the advice.

[ He stares at her for a moment longer, then abruptly turns to head in the direction she pointed. ]

[She thinks about it for a long while.

And then sighs, turns into a jackal, and follows him.

Look, she's not intending to interfere, but that's a bigass boss monster down there, there should probably be a healer on deck.]

[ He knows she's there but he doesn't stop her, so at least there's that.

As soon as he finds the boss though, a possibly worryingly eager smile crosses his face. ]

Heh. Now that's what I'm talking about.

[There is only a soft, exasperated yip, but she's not engaging. All yours, buddy.

Also watch out for the two ambush gekkos on the side, when the Boss Gekko looks up at you.]

[ Time to use his S-craft I guess, which won't end the boss but will take care of the summoned friends. ]

[Yeah they do go down like they're made of tissue paper, that's not a problem. The gekko has moved, though, lumbering up from it's nest and

that's quite a lot of little guys. And they are all fast and very hungry.

You have a lot of aoes ready, right? Right???]

[ His eyes flash blood red in the dark. His tail swishes in excitement, possibly at the scent of blood. ]
