When: day 30, midnight to dawn
Where: the train

[At precisely midnight a clock bell tolls, loud and mournful in the quiet night. An owl screeches, the dramatic chords of an organ start to play then are cut short in a jangle of notes.

If you're awake a hoarse voice growls, it might wake you even if you're asleep.]

Arise, heroes, and sate your hunger.

[Those not sleeping through all this will find a sudden spike in their primal urges. The needs of any form they possess may overcome reason, and the desire to slake thirsts both literal and metaphorical is intense.

If you're a wolf perhaps you want to hunt or draw close to your pack, if your taste is in blood, well. If you're just human it might be that your darker desires, possessiveness or even curiosity get the better of you in ways you don't normally let them. Desires need not be violent or sexually charged, but should be things your characters harbor at least some inclination towards wanting even if they deny it usually. Fluffy desires are still desires.

By morning light the effects will fade. And you'll all feel far less tired than you'd expect for a night partying.]

[ He pauses in his steps for a moment. ]

Yeah. Figured I'd get rid of some of the local monsters.

[ So that's a "yes." ]

[Lo. He just kinda. Appears next to Crow. Handy.]

Hey.

[ His gaze slides over to Rean and he grins. ]

Hey. That's a neat trick.

Yep. Perks of being my awakener.

I could get used to perks like that. C'mon, let's get going.

Lead on. I'll back you up.

Sounds good to me.

[ Now that Crow's accepted the party lead position, he heads deeper into the forest, listening for the telltale sounds and sights of monsters in the area. He's ignoring anything that looks small-- he's looking for a challenge. ]

[We can two man a cryptid nbd.

Rean's following along. After all, he's the support character now, he'll just fight whatever it is Crow wants to tangle with. He doesn't have an ARCUS or a visible weapon but he'll be fine.]

[ Crow pretty much figures Rean wouldn't be joining him if he didn't have a way to fight. He doesn't think Rean's dumb-- not in that way, at least.

He'll keep going until he finds a nice, boss-sized gecko to fight. ]

[Turns out Rean can combat link! Or something like it. It might be more intense but he's keeping to his most basic move set to conserve energy.]

[ Most basic set's perfectly reasonable when you're running low on mana.

The boss is gonna be pretty tough to take down with a party of two, but fortunately they're both really strong fighters. ]

[Honestly he's letting Crow do the heavy lifting. He dodges and counters a lot and his hits, barehanded, are pretty punishing, but he's mainly backing Crow up just like he said. It's fun and invigorating to battle together, but he's letting Crow get his obvious restlessness worked out while keeping an eye on him.

If it gets bad he'll step it up but otherwise he fights at Crow's level and no higher.]

[ Amnesia means Crow's lost a few levels but honestly he's pretty strong anyway-- fighting at half capacity with only his twin guns, but still pretty damned skilled. Still, fighting the monster does a pretty good job of getting some of that restless energy dealt with, and he lets out a slow exhale when the monster finally goes down. ]

[Rean's still running on an empty tank too, so it's a good thing nothing extra is needed. He'd manage, but it'd be rough on Crow and maybe even Randy.]

Nice going, Crow.

Same to you. You were holding back, weren't you?

[ He can definitely tell. ]

Caught me. But not as much as you think. I'm still not even at a fraction of full mana.

Yeah, that's not a surprise. You'll really be a sight to see at full power, huh?

[ He can't wait. (He bets it's hot.) ]

[But will it be cool??]

I hope so.

[ It might actually be, but Crow can't picture Rean being cool. ]

How long do you think it'll take.

[ He puts his guns away. ]

At the current rate? A long time.

You know, as long as you give me advance warning I wouldn't mind if you took a day or two and took more. I'm okay with a long nap.

I'd rather just take excess. There's no reason to go putting you in a vulnerable position.

Who's vulnerable when I have a big, strong Divine Knight there to protect me?
