The Eighth Trial

Who: Heroes
When: Day 17, morning
Where: the party zone The Fairy Circle

Come hither, Heroes. Prove thy worth.

Just like always, the train shudders in response to some foreign power. You’ve been here before, haven’t you? You know what will happen when you venture out of the train and into the dark forest beyond in search of some old house, or a tower, or whatever fresh nonsense awaits you.

But there’s no inexplicable new castle or what-have-you. Instead the air outside the train is filled with glittering bubbles floating lazily above what appears to be a collection of large white mushrooms grown in a circle.

Obviously there is no door, and touching any of the bubbles will simply cause them to burst. Should you step into the circle, however….

Foolish heroes, destined to be swallowed by the encroaching malice… can your hearts truly withstand the nightmare that is reality?

Darkness overtakes you.

When you wake up the first thing you may notice is this game has a soundtrack. The music appears to have no discernible source and fills the entire room. ... and what a room it is.

It appears you’ve been transported to some kind of… children’s… birthday party?

At the far end of the room is a large table with a sign above it reading HAPPY BIRTHDAY. It’s a pretty impressive set up with a variety of goodies including noise makers, party hats, disposable plates and cups, and enough sugar to fuel a whole room full of grade schoolers

The biggest and arguably most important party refreshment sits right in the middle of the table, however; a giant bowl of fruit punch. Don’t worry children it’s non-alcoholic. It's also not suspicious at all.

For now, don't worry! Mingle! Eat food! Don't think about all the bad things going on right now!! And don't forget to read the rules near the punch bowl.

[amane is more selfless than she gives herself credit for but that isn't something she's thinking about, presently.

what she is thinking about is how other teams may look on them favourably in the future if they do something like that and it may be worth the investment.]

Yes, I do agree. It would be a worthwhile pursuit. Ah, oh right, it is your question.

Is the story behind your name something you would want to share?

[that actually catches her off guard and her lips part in mild surprise.]

...you are asking me that?
acts_her_age: :? (20)

[personal profile] acts_her_age 2019-03-24 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm asking if it would bother you to share. If it would, I won't ask for the actual story. I'm not interested in finding out what the punch does.

[yeah she just a teeny bit touched is all

but she needs to manoeuvre carefully. coral is literally giving her an out and yet she cannot bring herself to simply take it. She needs to go around it.]

It is not much of a story so I would not mind.

[nods!]

All right. Your turn now, then.

Is there anything you would prefer I did not ask of you?

[o-oh]

...I don't understand my situation at home well enough to answer questions about it, at this point, so those would likely just lead to empty answers.

I was not about to ask you anything regarding that, so it is just as well.
acts_her_age: (I'm thankful for science.)

[personal profile] acts_her_age 2019-03-25 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Then we should be fine. Then, about your name?

[She is going to tell a truth.

Not the whole of it, but enough to satisfy.]

It is not anything special. It is my model number and type.

[SOOOO WANTS TO FOLLOW UP but, we're being nice here, she'll take it]

I see. That's what it sounded like to me, so I was curious if it was the case after all.

[u can follow up she will just

be evasive af maybe

Yes, it is a reasonable conclusion to come to.

Though, I did meet a boy with wings, earlier. There was also the chance that your world just uses numerical designations in general, given how different all of our environments were. Your turn?
voreaciously: (5)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-03-25 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
A fair assumption.

[and absolutely incorrect but that's not coral's fault at all. wew]

Who has wings?
acts_her_age: :) (It's a quarthex!)

[personal profile] acts_her_age 2019-03-25 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
A red-headed boy on Thyme. He goes by Felix. What's the most interesting thing you've learned about someone else's world, here?

Thank you.

[god she hopes he's not an angel that's the last thing she needs

as for coral's question she has to think because she doesn't fucking talk to people]

That people have powerful personal barriers that make it difficult for magic to interact with them, I suppose.
