The Fifth Trial

Who: ALL
When: Day 11, noon
Where: Outer Space

Come hither, Heroes. Prove thy worth.

[ That familiar silence befalls everything following the call, and just like before the third trial there’s a glittering void, points of light twinkling in the air. As you step into the space it expands, seeming to consume you, the Aurora, and all that exists in general. There’s a feeling of vertigo as this happens, frozen lights swirling all about you and once again it's all accompanied by obnoxious giggling.

This time, however, when the darkness fades, you're...

Back inside of the Aurora? No, this is actually an entirely different train. Outside the windows, you can only see wispy, dancing lights illuminating the surroundings, which you can't quite make out. The doors outside don't open. ]

You are the problem. I am attending to the problem.

Yes, well, unless you mean to cut me down where I stand--by all means, now seems the time for it--if I do not accept that provides a bit of a problem, on its own, does it not? What is Plan B?

I haven't thought that fair. Are you refusing?

...

[like give her a moment this is. like.]

Are you serious.

[like she has been actually pissed this whole time but that is just so ridiculous to hear she forgets to be angry]

More so than you.

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, I made clear that I believe this to be more of a waste of time than anything else to the contrary.

[was that ever in doubt.]

What are your terms?
saddleclub: (12)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
We fight, to best of our abilities. Should I win, you will listen to what I say with an open mind without dismissing it. And you will apologize to Randy for your selfishness.

In the chance that you win, what would you demand?

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
[she wanted to know if it was to be until first blood or yielding but

no. these terms suck they double suck. suck eggs right out of a chicken before they have time to hatch.]

There is absolutely nothing of worth to me, now that I consider it. And, truly, as I understand it, you were plenty selfish yourself.
saddleclub: (32)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes but at least I take others into account with my selfishness.

And have the grace to acknowledge I hurt those who care for me.

[yeah no one gives a shit about her as far as she can see because she's fucking blind

but that strikes a nerve]

I wanted to win, but we have been set back once again. And for what? Unpleasantness? Great unpleasantness, even, if you wish to venture. Really how do you plan to escape this place if every time you encounter an obstacle you flee from it? No one wishes to be here and no one that matters cares what we wish. I am only moving forward and looking at the bigger picture.
saddleclub: (31)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
What bigger picture? The one wherein you not only die needlessly but drag Randy and Akira into it? They would not have left you. And then because I would not leave them Ceylon would also have likely ended up dead.

All because you, selfishly, wanted to win rather than consider that people were willing to throw their lives away for you not to die alone.

Not only that you haven't even realized that much. The depths of your laziness and idiocy to top off your willful selfish ignorance make my blood boil.
voreaciously: (219)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
The bigger picture of completing the objective so that we might escape this miserable situation. It is not needless if it is literally the win condition!

[how dare you call her laz]

I did not ask nor want them to. Nobody else needed to and I was absolutely fine with it.
saddleclub: (26)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
THE POINT IS THAT YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE FINE WITH IT!!!
voreaciously: (206)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
And what? Am I to simply give up trying every time there is a difficult trial? Is that what you mean to happen every time?
saddleclub: (31)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Why must it be that extreme?! When did anyone say "give up every time"?! You made up that interpretation all on your own!

You're not even getting the basic point!! People would be upset if you died! They also don't want to die! They don't want to see you die! They would rather stay with you than sacrifice you alone! But none of that was necessary! All you had to do was get your head out of your own ass to see that!

Instead, to prevent needless tragedy, a soft-hearted man who likes you enough to hurt you rather than let you die, shot you when it hurt him more than any of that affected you!
voreaciously: (57)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Because this is not going to get better! This never gets better! Difficult choices and decisions need to be made to progress.

Death is not permanent, here. Anyone who dies here will return. How very fortunate.

[that isn't the point and she knows that deep down, but.

but--]

He did not do me any favours. I was a barrier to protecting the rest of you. It had absolutely nothing to do with me and do not pretend otherwise. He was prepared to die until you told him otherwise and I was in his way at that point. That is all.

How willfully blind and ignorant and stupid must one be to say such things I wonder? It goes beyond mere arrogance and self-absorption. This is another level of self-delusion on a deliberate scale.
voreaciously: (80)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes, I am the actual worst.

[even though she's the one that got shot. go figure.]

It does not make my recounting of events less accurate.
saddleclub: (30)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it does. Because it comes from complete ignorance of the motives of the situation. Not that you seem to care to be anything but ignorant. Such laziness and lack of intellect is in itself, remarkable I suppose.
voreaciously: (54)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
[to be called lazy is actually pretty galling and she stiffens, looks as though she might say something of merit in rebuttal. she has always been trying her hardest, always--but she swallows it all thickly, bitterly. she won't give him that satisfaction.

What is even the point? Where will any of this take her? He doesn't care to know and she doesn't care to explain herself, not when he thinks--and not wrongly, for the most part--the worst of her. Let him think what he wants.]

Yes. Well. Let us not waste any more time, then, if I am where intellect and work ethic encounter oblivion.
saddleclub: (33)

[personal profile] saddleclub 2019-02-10 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. Give up. Prove me right. That's surely what I wish for.
voreaciously: (65)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
I do not know you. I do not even know your name. You can think the worst of me, I have not once dissuaded you from doing so during your bout of righteous fury. What is that to me? Tell me, what does it matter? You are here for Mister Orlando's sake and your team. Yes, fine, I will be certain not to act out of turn once again. Are you satisfied now?

You really are an infuriating coward aren't you? I have no personal investment in you but that does not mean no one could, that even I could not, if you were not an immovable pillar of your own arrogance. You claim I am self-righteous? Your seeking self-destruction and claiming that it affects no one but you is far more self-righteous.
voreaciously: (56)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-02-10 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Coward...? If you fancy. If I infuriate you so much then why do you deign to speak to me? Save your breath for someone who matters.

Will you fight me or run for this like you intend to run from all reality with your self-absorbed delusions?
