[Of course there's still the flowers that, when stepped on, enhance or dull a sense, and there are still some chocolates in the lounge if you missed them or want more.

But this morning dawns with an infestation of bats.

That is, tiny tiny clockwork bats that get in your hair and coffee and make tiny tiny clockwork bat screeches.

Should you encounter a clockwork bat, and they're pretty hard to dodge, the next person you talk to will... Well, see one of your memories.

Otherwise it seems like a pretty typical morning, and the bats will be gone by afternoon.]

I wouldn't say it's depressing, in my opinion. Sure, there's others that are going to be better at me at things that I'd like to say I'm good at, but that's only because I'm only human. Besides, not being especially good at one thing just means I can be the jack of all trades. So it doesn't really bother me or anything.

It's impossible to be good at all things, but not having a talent at all would be depressing. Something that makes a person special.

Even being a jack of all trades is one. It's adaptability or intelligence, depending on the trades.

. . . I don't think so? I mean, just being average at everything isn't necessarily bad, and nobody has to be special to prove their worth or anything. They can just be themselves, that's all.

Honestly, I'm all about learning as much as I can. I mostly specialize in analysis and stuff like that. Gathering information is pretty much my forte.

....I mean, a special talent is part of what makes a person themselves? And being average is just that. Average. It's like....even if you're passionate at something, you're still just average? That'd be disheartening.

See, that's an important talent.

Haha. . . it's just that like, no matter how hard I try, there's always someone better than all the things I do.

even when she got the ability to nullify with her own two hands, there was someone who had that - an even better version.

there were times, admittedly, where she just felt inadequate in comparison, and it shows in her slightly pitiful smile. ]

I suppose. I just know people who are still way better at it than I am.

But it's still something that I take pride in.

So that means you have time to develop your talent.

The young are always gonna have betters. It takes time to be the best.

. . . I guess?

But I don't like the idea of being like, necessarily. . . 'the best' at something? It kind of feels conceited.

Why? If you're the best, you're the best.

But then you're just. . . stuck there. As being the best at something. Growth just stops.

Until someone improves and then you have to beat them.

It's like a nonstop competition at that point. . .

But constant progress.

Well, I can't deny that progress is good.

And some people can be content not being the best, or not being it forever.

But not instantly winning isn't a reason to write yourself off.

That's true. It's not a bad thing at all.

Just like you can be 'good' without being the 'best' and that's still beyond just average.

Well, that's true.

I don't mind 'average', though. I like being good at things, but I'm not going to shit on someone because they're. . . that.

Sometimes people are just average at things. But it's kind of depressing to be average at anything they do. It means they have nothing they love enough to try better for.

. . . I guess that's true.

So if you're better than average at something, no reason to hide that fact. Everyone has at least something.

Guess that's true. I'm still pretty normal comparatively -- well, in 'human standards', I guess.

To be fair, human standards are still weird depending who you ask.

Because far as I'm concerned, humans are REAL weird.
