(no subject)

Who: You
When: Day 52, morning
Where: Anywhere

[Of course there's still the flowers that, when stepped on, enhance or dull a sense, and there are still some chocolates in the lounge if you missed them or want more.

But this morning dawns with an infestation of bats.

That is, tiny tiny clockwork bats that get in your hair and coffee and make tiny tiny clockwork bat screeches.

Should you encounter a clockwork bat, and they're pretty hard to dodge, the next person you talk to will... Well, see one of your memories.

Otherwise it seems like a pretty typical morning, and the bats will be gone by afternoon.]

And do you have any thoughts as to their purpose?

[Have a quiet happy memory.]

[ . . . well then ]

No idea. I'm not exactly familiar with this sort of stuff-- maybe something to do with time?

Time? Why would you think that?

[He has absolutely no awareness of anything that happened to her.]

Based on what they look like, of course.

[ and she's glad that he doesn't, she'd rather not reveal any information like that so easily. ]

[personal profile] bestbrotherever 2019-12-21 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you associate Time with primitive machinery such as this?

[He missed the entire clockwork era of human development, give him a break.]

Because they look like clockwork.

[personal profile] bestbrotherever 2019-12-22 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
You call this clockwork? Why?

[personal profile] dereban 2019-12-22 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Because of their shape. . . ?

[Shaking his head] The circles are the only similarities I see, and even most Midgardian clocks do not take the shape of a circle anymore.

Oh.

I guess your world's clocks aren't like that, then. . . guess that makes sense.

Of course our methods of keeping time are far more advanced. We had sophisticated devices while humans were using sundials.

[personal profile] dereban 2019-12-26 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I will say that we're not in the age of sundials anymore.

[ but this definitely piques her interest, and it shows in her curious eyes ]

'Sophisticated devices', though? What were they like, exactly?

[personal profile] bestbrotherever 2019-12-30 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
They measure time directly as it passes throughout the universe.

[personal profile] dereban 2019-12-30 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
But how exactly is it measured?
bestbrotherever: (king)

[personal profile] bestbrotherever 2019-12-31 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
All things age. Even the universe. We can detect those ages.

. . . Huh.

That's pretty interesting, honestly.
