[ It may have been only a few days, but did that heatwave feel like it lasted forever to anyone else? No? Either way, it's gone now. Bringing with it a blessed coolness. Actually wait, it's cold-- too cold! Worse yet, not even going into the train seems to really help. Fortunately, someone seems to have been kind enough to leave some nice, fuzzy blankets lying around. Too bad it doesn't seem to help much unless you share them with someone...

Either way, you're in luck because you've got some new teammates on the train! The notification appears cheerfully on everyone's Chains:

Where would you like to explore. If I recall there is a beach, the forest, caves, and a town of empty buildings. Malice does lurk further in, and it would be best to avoid such activities for the moment.

[it vaguely occurs in the back of her mind that taking her out somewhere far from the train would be a perfect opportunity to attempt to stab her again, but she's way too trusting in the good in people, so she's going to give Emet-Selch the benefit of the doubt.]

What's the closest we can get to Malice without being too close? Just a peek.

Earlier I was able to investigate, but only because Rean had the ability to teleport, and it did take much from him to do so. Getting there by foot would be tricky.

I know that bonds get sparks, which is how I can buy things. Was there something else?

[she'd never asked about regaining her memories because she'd just assumed they'd come back over time, and no one had ever mentioned to her she could get them back through enough bonds...]

The act of earning them does provide benefits as terrible as that sounds --- having to dance to get what once rightfully your back. Though I do not suffer the same fate as you regarding memories, my abilities are lost to me. One among them was the ability to teleport. Such an ability would make our trek much simpler.

Ahh, so you want me to perform bonds with you so you can get your teleporting back?

Be warned. I have yet to attempt this act. I am not sure how long it will take to manifest or if the ability I so desire is the first to be returned. It is merely an option.

[At least she isn't heavy. Not that it would have mattered as his Garlean build would have outweighed that. Tucking elbows under her knees because her falling at this point would be truly unnecessary, he slouches.]

[And of course he's not going to mention that her pressed up against his back feels warm. Not enough to stem the cold as per requirement, but surely doing a better job than any of the layers of clothes are affording him.]

Very rude. I suppose I shouldn't expect impeccable manners from someone who attempted to stab me upon first meeting, but here we are.

Then again, I suppose I do deserve it a little.
