[ It may have been only a few days, but did that heatwave feel like it lasted forever to anyone else? No? Either way, it's gone now. Bringing with it a blessed coolness. Actually wait, it's cold-- too cold! Worse yet, not even going into the train seems to really help. Fortunately, someone seems to have been kind enough to leave some nice, fuzzy blankets lying around. Too bad it doesn't seem to help much unless you share them with someone...

Either way, you're in luck because you've got some new teammates on the train! The notification appears cheerfully on everyone's Chains:

What exactly does it mean when it wants us to make bonds with others? Just becoming friends...? We're supposed to save the universe with friendship?

That is correct, I am afraid. Malice is aptly named, it is all that is negative in the universe and is repelled by the power of bonds. Anyone who has been here long enough has seen it for themselves.

[And yet...she still sucks at it.]

You would think, but a number of us have difficulty with the prospect. If you do not, all the more power to you--and quite literally, at that.

How do you mean? We gain additional power through friendship...?

Well, I mean to say the power to repel Malice, not power that we might wield for ourselves in a conventional sense. At least, none that I have witnessed. It ought to be possible, however, objectively speaking if the train runs on such power. But pay no heed to my conjecture. I am only musing.

Bonds are how we earn currency as well, correct?

That is correct. To be clear, there are very specific actions you can take to earn them. One that is particular to your team, and then general ones that pertain to everyone. Comforting someone in distress, showing affection, giving gifts for example.

Is there a list somewhere of the things I need to do?

It is all on your chain. For our part, Jasmine's bond is convincing someone to do something, even if they were already going to. But the list is as follows otherwise: comfort someone in distress, give a gift, show physical affection, make a gesture of gratitude, and defend someone, verbally or physically.

She does not say this aloud, because it might be alarming.

Also she is part of that half.]

Oh, yes. Randy helped me think of one — I settled on "Selene".

More questions... hm. Well, I should amend my rudeness and ask: what may I call you?

[she tilts her head slightly.] As long as you like it. Selene-han, then.

[that is what ultimately matters, even if it is not quite and 80H feels some misplaced disappointment in that, she gets over it. it's whatever, really.]
