EVENT: BLANKET FIC

[ It may have been only a few days, but did that heatwave feel like it lasted forever to anyone else? No? Either way, it's gone now. Bringing with it a blessed coolness. Actually wait, it's cold-- too cold! Worse yet, not even going into the train seems to really help. Fortunately, someone seems to have been kind enough to leave some nice, fuzzy blankets lying around. Too bad it doesn't seem to help much unless you share them with someone...

Either way, you're in luck because you've got some new teammates on the train! The notification appears cheerfully on everyone's Chains:

Is it normally so cold around here?

[pointing her to a seat! yawning while he starts bustling around making tea for the both of them.]

Hard t'say, really. It's sure as hell cold now, at any rate.

[nhaamasblessing]

[settling herself down, still holding the jacket around her tightly.]

For that matter, where exactly is "here"? I know that device said it was the "Aurora" and all, but...

Thaaaat's a tad complicated. We're on a train that's like, kinda one of the only things left from some sorta apocalypse? It's protected, and so are we. Mostly.

[setting mugs down to steep and sitting across from her]

And we're supposed to save the universe from here? Somehow?

[crimeson]

That's the size of it! It kinda goes over my head, really.

So! What do you remember?

[nhaamasblessing]

Utterly and completely nothing. Is that normal?

[crimeson]

I hate to say yes, but yes. Some of us show up with memories, but a lot don't.

[nhaamasblessing]

Lucky me, then.

I can't even remember my own name, to be honest.

[crimeson]

Yeah, that happens...

[offers her a hand over the table.]

I'm Randy Orlando. Nice to meet you. We can help you come up with somethin' you'd like to go by until you remember?

[nhaamasblessing]

[taking it! her grip is pretty strong, though not crushing]

Nice to meet you too, Randy. That would probably be a good idea, least I go by "hey, you" for the foreseeable future.

[crimeson]

[eyyy, firm handshake! he gives as good as he's getting, though he does glance down, interested by the texture of her scales.]

There are a lot of potential "hey you"s! Better not to risk it. We have sort of a nautical theme going, last I checked. You got any interest in that?

[nhaamasblessing]

[considers the idea for a moment, before something seems to dawn on her.]

What about space-related?

[she unfurls the jacket from around her to pull down one of the sleeves, revealing a full arm sleeve of star tattoos down her arm.]

I apparently seem to like it.

[whistles, impressed.]

Damn, no kidding! Guess I should start thinking about constellations...

Maybe the moon?
