Who: Everyone
When: Day 43, Nighttime
Where: The clearing, now no longer a beach

[ The beach fades away, leaving everyone back in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of the clearing and their-- beloved?-- train. There are some new stars in the sky, twinkling in ginger goldenrod, thyme apple, senna terracotta, jasmine blue, and clover pink.

The sound of a giggle fills the air and leaves behind bubbles-- touching one will give the uncontrollable urge to hug the nearest person. They will persist throughout the night. ]

[Look, Pen can empathize with Twilight Sparkle, though he is more restrained. (Slightly, says Des.)]

This suggests your transformation might pre-date your arrival here.

[because one sure is full of equines and one is not... though the one with the ponies makes more sense to Penric. What is an automobile?]

[Sunset appreciates the power of a library and can research like nobody's business, she just prefers doing over reading. But her nergasm was absolutely adorable.]

[But yeah, that. Sudden change is REAL weird. Because like she knows what a car is. She knows how to DRIVE a car. She knows it's function in a society. It just also clashes with what she thinks society is and it's a weird headtrip.]

Well.

At least it's not a conspiracy from the Conductor.

Those....those places are really different.

Yes, they are. And I have to say that the one with the ponies was more like my own home than the one with the humans.

[even setting aside skin colors]

Ignoring the degree of moving objects with magic.

Levitation is the one spell all unicorns put in the effort to learn. It'd be real easy for an alicorn to nail down.

But not something most humans have access to. I don't even think those of us with unusual gifts can manage it.
daydreamshimmer: (That's just bizarre)

[personal profile] daydreamshimmer 2019-10-17 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
.....so you have chaos and destruction, but not levitation?

Yes. And the reverse. Uphill magic instead of downhill. That's harder, since Des needs something to balance the scales, or I overheat.

To make Des's magic go uphill, I need to send something downhill to compensate, or that something is me. We can hold it back for a short time, or build up reserves, but that's about it. And it's only because Des is a very old demon; she has a lot of learned control.
daydreamshimmer: (That's just bizarre)

[personal profile] daydreamshimmer 2019-10-19 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
But she doesn't need to for sending things downhill?

[personal profile] learnedfool 2019-10-19 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Less so, since she generates the chaos on her own, and downhill magic is mostly helping things that happen on their own.

Well, at least there's that. Your chaos is still weirdly rule following for chaos. [It's downright odd.]

So is uphill hard for you because she's around or is that just an always thing?

Before she arrived, I couldn't do anything magical. Most humans can't.
daydreamshimmer: (That's just bizarre)

[personal profile] daydreamshimmer 2019-10-21 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
....how does she make magic move through your body?
learnedfool: (Default)

[personal profile] learnedfool 2019-10-22 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. We'll have to work on translating how she sees it into something I can explain in words.
daydreamshimmer: (A bit embarrassed)

[personal profile] daydreamshimmer 2019-10-22 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
....we don't. Necessarily need words?
