[A gentle breeze keeps the afternoon cool. It seems peaceful around now, with the malice pushed back so far, unless you're heading to the island of concentrated malice of course.

It's a good day to relax and daydream.

Distantly you might sometimes hear the tick ticking of clockwork? Or it might be your imagination.

Speaking of imagination, if you think about things too hard you may find your thoughts and feelings shared with those nearby. Or even if you don't think hard at all.

At the mildest this might simply be like your thoughts and emotions being understood by others next to you, either in a vague or explicitly detailed way, but at the most extreme you might project shared delusions. Something like others getting to watch your own memories. Or fantasy sequences. Or inner monologues. Or maybe even blending you delusions with another's.

Whether it goes that far or remains a more telepathic/empathic thing is very random.]

It is also necessary for one's own spellcasting. After all, where would one be if they could not dispel their own magic should complications occur and the need arise?

Oh wow. I would have thought you'd just need to stop casting the spell. Does it happen often, needing to dispel it?

Sometimes, but that is frequently incorrect.

[A blob of water takes shape. It is a bicycle.] Consider: when you peddle on a bike, you generate momentum that carries you forward even after you cease peddling. [little Dusk is peddling hard before stopping, riding it out, the wind in his hair.]

Magic is often the same way with more complex enchantments and evocations, if there is energy present, it can grow unpredictable--the bike steering out of control. [things are looking rough for lil Dusk here! he can't seem to get control oh no.]

Negating the spell is the brake.

That makes sense. Magic is an energy, instead of a machine. Need to control the flow more.

So? People need to practice. Even if you have gifts, natural or otherwise, it takes practice to hone those abilities. Talent is a dull blade, takes time to make it sharp. Just a question of how long.

I would agree with you with other facets, but this is truly easy. water is malleable, it is easy to impress upon it different shapes.

It would also be easy to get it wrong, isn't it? That's the downsides of easy to work with material, it's also easy to mess up.

Magic is about intent. Water is soft, forgiving, it is easy to imprint intent upon it if the mind is clear.

[he's not entirely wrong but she only has her own experiences and though she's worked very, very hard, shaping has never been really difficult for her.]

A clear mind is not necessarily an easy thing to do.

That is the purpose of casting spells. They render the caster under a special hypnosis to enable it, but this is like flexing a muscle. Natural. Reflexive.
