I would hope so. I've been at dangerous shit longer than her. [It's sad how much she's competing.]

[Also has some nasty bullet wounds almost dead center on his spine, yay for near miss for paralysis. Just to go along with everything else he's been through.]

[He only glances a little to take it in and then averts his eyes politely. He hadn't really been meaning to look in the first place, he's generally proper. But he wasn't going to pretnd he didn't see. ]

Fair enough. Try to avoid adding to the collection, you've got like ten whole sets already.

I make no promises. I think my memories have just driven it home I might be part cockroach.

[At least it doesn't take him long to change. So much easier than armor.]

[Then he's coming over to flop down on the bed.]

[He stretched out a little, looking at Dusk again, he's still sitting up himself.]

It would be weird if it wasn't, with how stubborn it is.

[He'll move closer, pulling up some of the blankets. There's so many and they're all so fluffy.]

[Ponders Rean a moment, then will throw an arm around his waist.]

[Oh. Well that works out but he still goes a little red.]

I guess I can't grumble at you when I wanted to do this anyway.

["This" being dropping his hand to run his fingers through Dusk's hair in a slow repetitive petting motion.]

I didn't move much my first night. More aware you're here.

[He's blushing too, but oh. That does feel nice. Maybe he can just bury his face in a pillow and let Rean do that.]

[He could literally do this all night if it'd soothe Dusk, for now he keeps it up, the slow, gentle slide of his fingers through Dusk's hair, almost hypnotic.]

If you want to use me like another pillow to hug I don't mind. I'm here to help you sleep. You tell me whatever you need or want.

[It's amazing how much it's helping, actually. It's hard for his mind to slow down when he's on his own, always thinking and remembering, but like this....]

[He can just focus on Rean. Every little move and breath he takes and the way his fingers move. Easier to focus on that and shut out the too many thoughts in his head.]

Yeah....yeah, I think this works. [A softer murmur.]

And here I was ready to offer a lullaby.

[He's joking but he sounds almost serious, only a little lightness in his deadpan.]

I'm glad though. Get some sleep if you can.

[He's not going to stop the languid petting, perfectly content to pet Dusk into unconciousness like one might a cat.]

Depends. Your voice any good? [Light teasing.]

[He's certainly relaxing. He's always got a certain level of tension in his frame while he's moving, but right now it's melting away. It really won't take long for him to fall asleep and that's. Really nice after everything.]

[Sometimes what you really need is safety and soothing pets.]

It's not bad at least.

[He's speaking softer as Dusk's tension melts.]

Maybe I'll regale you next time.

[Honestly he's relieved Dusk is relaxing at all, it's heartening.]

[Rean's earned a lot of trust and Dusk is lacking a lot of his trust issues.]

[So it all works out. And he does do better when he's not alone.]

[Barely audible because he is very tired. After the past few days and the nightmare and surgery, he needs sleep.]

[Soon enough he'll have drifted off, and overall, very still as he sleeps. Another presence doing wonders to keep his mind from plaguing him with any painful memories.]

[He smiles as Dusk's breathing evens. He really will pet him slooooowly for hours, as long as it seems to help he'll keep it up and watch him sleep and space out. Gentle and fond.]

[You're good people, Rean. Helping this man get far more sleep than he usually gets.]

[He's probably gonna start stirring at around four hours.]

[He....he doesn't actually need a ton of sleep, thanks super soldier stuff, which just says how poorly he must have slept before getting here.]

[Isn't 4 hours too little? He's a little worried when Dusk stirs so soon but he'll see if he settles again.]

[This is why you don't become human experiments kids.]

[He seems to settle after a minute, maybe going back to sleep.]

[Except his eyes are opening to look at Rean.]

Morning.

[Well, he doesn't sound completely groggy.]

Technically.

[He stills his fingers in Dusk's hair, no his arm didn't get tired that whole time.]

You can sleep more, you know? Did a dream wake you?

No? Just feel like I should be waking up?

Yeah? Well if you feel rested.

[He'll gently run his fingers though Dusk's hair one last time before pulling his hand back.]

No bad dreams?

[Considering.] Yeah, I do. [At least significantly more than he was before and what's his usual standard.]

[He shakes his head.] No. Pretty dreamless. Maybe a bit of dreaming of being outside. [Sitting up now, rubbing at his eyes.]

That's good.

Outside like what?

[Just content to watch Dusk waking up really.]

Loki did the same thing after the secrets game. He's skittish, so I just let him do it as long as he wanted.
