[This morning, or whenever you wake up, you will find that there are delicious smells wafting from the lounge car. Upon investigation, one will discover a beautiful spread of hot cocoa and tea and coffee and many marshmallow animals, ideal for putting in your drinks or simply eating wholesale. It isn't just cats either, but many animals of a similar quality of marshmallow, whatever kinds you'd like. But you may find the warm fuzzies they impart might be a bit more than internal.

In a conspicuous place is a note in handwriting many of you may find quite familiar at this point:

There's a lot of scars that look like they're from shrapnel. Grenades seem the most likely thing to do that.

[He tilts his head, thinking.] Definitely have hand combat training. Redirect and follow through, don't stop moving, don't give a breather... [Muttering.] Might be good until I gauge my strength better on something not a person. Just to know what I am working with. I think I got enough to at least start working out what I need to do, and when someone is a little more prepared to deal with what I could dish out.

[He hums. Then he looks around and picks up a few small rocks.] One more test. [He tosses them over.] I want to see how I react to ranged attacks.

Yeah probably don't fight someone until you have a better handle on your instincts. You were holding back but accidents happen. I could handle it, Naeva and 80H might be able to, maybe some others...

[He catches the rocks.]

[He throws them, in quick succession, fast. They'll sting like hell if they hit but Rean's not playing so soft now that he's seen some of what Wash can do.]

I am curious how 80H would react. [Maybe he should figure out if she does know him.] I'll keep an eye out for Naeva.

[And again, there was that quick reaction, and he's quick to dodge the first, twisting out of the way of the second, and actually catching the third with barely a grimace, free hand reaching down for a weapon that's not there.]

.....okay, so. Very used to using a gun of some kind. [Dropping the rock and shaking out his hand.] And really good at judging trajectories. Man, that stings.

Sorry about that. Didn't seem like it'd be much of a test any slower.

A gun though huh? Soldier, maybe? Or possibly a jaeger?

It was a good test. I was fully prepared for the rocks to hit. [Clenching and unclenching his head and holding it up.] See, it's fine. [Might bruise a little, but he's really good at taking a hit, the cockroach.]

It seems likely. Definitely some kind of fighter and I'm really for teamwork, so military seems like a good bet. [Pause.] Jaeger? That's...German?

Jaeger's are what we call high level mercenaries, where I'm from.

Not familiar at all I'm afraid.

Most Jaegers work in units that I'm aware of. But, well, soldier's a safe enough guess until you remember more.

They can have partners, but it's usually not a formalized thing, I don't think?

Probably. My world is Zemuria but I know it's not the only world out there.

I think so at least. I don't recall much of anything beyond my purpose or how I work.

I feel like they tend to be mercenary companies though, in my world.

Well, yeah, other worlds, but most everyone knows Earth. Gotta remember the homeland sort of thing. And who knows what's different with dimensions.

Haven't gotten a lot of memories back yet, huh?

Maybe it's just more formal with those things for your world.

Not really. Though for me it's a little different. I don't need the tokens to remember, I just need time.

I'm very old and between being summoned I sleep for a long time. My mana gets low, so things like memories kind of... slip away. I'll eventually regain them at my own pace. I think at least.

How do you regain mana? Can people help?

No it's fine. I think I remember more by default than anyone with train amnesia, so it's not that big a deal.

Um... Well. Yes. I can usually restore it ambiently but there aren't any Septium veins in this world. I can also restore it by taking it from people by having a contact with them, and, uh, other ways.

I guess that's true. [Still bites.]

A contract? What kind of contract? And what other ways?

....is it blood? Is this like a vampire thing?

Normally I'd only be woken to form a contract with one awakener and up to nine secondary contractors, in a time of crisis or war, a period of change for history. My soul bound to my awakener until death. I'd offer them my power and they would lend me mana through our bond.

As things are here, I have a contract with two people sustaining me.

And no, I don't drink blood. It works be a really inefficient, messy, and gross way to gain mana.

Is there a way to tell if someone can provide Mana? Or end a contract if the contractor agrees? Not sure how that'd work across dimension thing. Or if I have Mana.

Everyone has mana. It's kind of like your life force. Some people have more I guess, or can manipulate it better, like those who use magic, but it's in everyone. I actually don't know if there's a way to end a contract here. Usually once would have to undergo trials to awaken me but... I've been winging it a lot. I certainly don't know how to end a contract, at any rate.
