THE TWELFTH TRIAL

Who: Those who would love
Where: The Final Frontier
When: ?? (to be inserted into the timeline later)

Come hiiiiither, Heroes! Prove thy parenting skills!!

[ As usual there’s a tremor and then silence -- and then, as may be familiar to a few of you there appears a glittering void, points of light twinkling in the air. As you step into the space it expands, seeming to consume you, the Aurora, and all that exists in general. There’s a feeling of vertigo as this happens, frozen lights swirling all about you and once again it's all accompanied by obnoxious giggling.

When the darkness fades, you find yourself in an empty, featureless room with three doors, and on a pedestal in front of you: matching keys for each door. ]

How curious. You even smell more like a wolf, now...

[Like, still 80H, just. Wolfier.]

I'd have expected you to still smell more like your humanoid self. And you're still identifiable, but more...wolfy? It's hard to describe with words.

[She tried to gesture with her paws. Oh naeva.]

A nightkin's scent doesn't change between forms. I suppose it may be because we grow into them.

I see. That seems sensible. I do not have a nose as keen, so I cannot opine on the matter, only speculate.

You don't have a wolf's sense of smell?

[Yip???]

Well, I do now, I meant generally. When I am not like this.

[just gonna sniff a bit, and catalogue some stuff for later.]

[She smells

not quite dead, but definitely of death. It's a clean smell, not like rot or decay...ancient, dry, cool death. Naeva has stood in the area between a living and dead being for a long time, after all.

She also smells strongly of dirt and flowers, which isn't surprising given how much time she spends in the garden. Roses are the strongest scent, but anything else in the garden can be picked out and identified, if one knows how to concentrate and sort that.

Of course, there's also the scent of the people she interacts with regularly, with one scent definitely, uh, much stronger on her.

Someone's clearly also getting laid on the reg. Now the question becomes, can one match these scents to the people they belong to?]

That is true. I wonder how long this change will last...or if I'll need to offer classes on scent tracking and hunting?

[It's a nice scent, even if it unnerves her for specific reasons. It would be calming and relaxing if she did not have specific hangups about Death. Still, it is interesting.

Especially since it is also difficult not to notice that she smells strongly of someone else, perhaps the individual they discussed when she decided she needed to avoid her.

Oh right, she needs to keep doing that, doesn't she?

Well, she is not going to point that out, she is not so crass and it is not her business. Live your dreams, Naeva.]

Difficult to say, likely quite some time, at least, so I am certain some people will benefit. You could make a bonding exercise of it, if you wish.

How would one decorate a wolf?

[Like. 80. Please.]

That is not what I meant.

[She sighs very lightly.]

Be creative. I never said anything about your team's bond, we get points for other activities and the like, as well. For example gifts; you would be imparting the gift of your knowledge onto others. That would satisfy the condition nicely.

[She has a lot of sparks for all that actual bonding gives her hives she knows how this system works by now.]
