Who: Everybody!
When: Day 14, morning
Where: Public Lounge

[Good morning, Aurora. Things seem peaceful, don't they? But, well, there is a terrible doom brought upon this train. Maybe you noticed it near your
car. Maybe you felt a terrible presence in the wee hours of the morning. Maybe you just wanted to get breakfast in peace. But anyone going through
the lounge today will find themselves presented with something strange and terrible.

Stickers.

They're bright. They're sparkly. Naeva has an inordinant amount of them and is sticking them on anyone and anything she can get close to. If you ask, she'll probably
let you pick one out. Or maybe just snatch a sheet from her when her back's turned.

And hey, if you're not here for stickernanigans, maybe you still have some memories to broadcast? It's a beautiful morning for a beautiful mingle!]

Ah, I learned from my brother recently...

[ ok onions now, in both pots. two batches! ]

And you enjoy doing it?

It's hardly unpleasant. I'm grateful for it as a skill that was learned from him, certainly...

[she fiddles with her ribbons--hhNNG SHE REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT HIM.

and then she realises she's fiddling and forcibly stops, like her hand's been burned.]

What do you make of the current situation?

What do you mean?

[ ginger and garlic time ]

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-03-07 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
...Nevermind. It is not important.

If you've decided to ask, then it certainly isn't unimportant.

Our situation within this place, or the circumstances surrounding my brother?

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-03-07 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
The first, I suppose. But as said, it is of no great import.

Well, it's certainly odd. That we both would find our way here, among other things, but that others have yet to be identified - yes, among myriad remaining issues...

[ she has a theory, but she still can't be certain about how viable it is. whether it's just paranoia on her part - she's sure it isn't, not with that name, not with the time ohia spent here, not with the persistence of that gaze at her back, baring down on her more forcefully than even the loneliest nights at university or alone in the apartment, but until she can prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt she won't share it.

not that one. it's not that there's no value in speculation; she won't speak of him unless she has to. but her hands go still at the prep station, for just a moment or so, before she returns to work. ]

I do hold some curiosity regarding the means of reconstruction, I suppose - simply to start.

[Odd is a word for it. A fitting one. But also...

Well, she won't go too far, there.]

Reconstruction?

The means through which we arrived in this place, as described by the artificial intelligence in control of the train. We were, so it has claimed, consumed along with the remainder of our worlds - it's simply that we alone were able to be salvaged. The loss of memories or abilities, by such a token, is simply the result of a construction that has yet to be completed.

However - as you have no doubt noted, individuals disappear with very much the same simplicity through which they've been shown to arrive, on occasion from worlds similar in nature, if not one and the same. Consequently, the process has caught my interest somewhat.

I assume manipulations of time and causality must be at play. Or perhaps they've a store of data from which to draw from...

[people disappearing, though, why does that happen? It is a curious thing. Where do they go? there is no Forest to get lost in.]

[ stirring some curry powder into both pots, ]

Causal manipulations would extract only completed data. Between them, I would speculate that it is rather -

[ it wouldn't really be strange if it were him, if the time was lost incidentally, she worries, back fortunately turned. ]

- the latter. If this train has some means in particular through which it interacts with the Malice, then it must be extraction, certainly, were our worlds consumed prior to our awakening in this place. Of course, it's only a bit of cursory conjecture; it does even still raise the questions of how and when, though I suppose there is little reason that it could not be both, to some degree.

[Still playing with her string, her fingers are quick and smooth, as natural and comfortable as blinking. But she is paying close attention, mulling over the speculation given and considering her own.]

What, then, is your theory on disappearances?

[if they were reconstructed, she wonders if there was not some sort of degradation involved, but she does not want to consider that.]

[ as the powder and vegetables and meat all get to know each other, it starts to smell up the room! enjoy ]

Aurelia did reappear for a time following her first disappearance; along such auspices, with consideration given to this fact as well as the potential means, I suppose that it could relate to the Malice. There were, I noted, "healing pods" available for purchase in the event that we retain physical injuries to any inordinate degree - though I've yet to lay eyes on one, disappearances, I imagine, could function similarly.

[she's NOT HUNGRY ignore the stomach.]

I suppose it is possible, though I wonder if we can ever know for certain.

At any rate, those are my thoughts.

[ okkkk broth and veggies time. once both are covered and getting to know each other she moves to work on the rice. ]

Of course.

[ with that said and the rice all prepped she has a little bit of time free, so she takes a seat nearby and just.

fiddles with her cigarette box, she doesn't make any overtures towards smoking a third but she opens it up, plays with the cardboard a bit, reorganizes the cigarettes inside with an idle, awkward fingertip. ]
