Though you may have just got out of a Trial recently, there is the sound of an announcement on your Chain: ]

WELCOME NEW HEROES

[And indeed, there is another round of newbies waking up in their rooms, in the usual nondescript undies or team pyjamas. They'll get their basic welcome message and a prompt to view the IC Guide.

"Someone" has seen to bring refreshments to greet the newbies. It's sparkling water, refreshingly cool and surprisngly sugar-free considering the surroundings. If you choose to drink it, you will find yourself instantly refreshed, almost as if you'd gotten a full day's rest. You will also find that the very next thing you say to someone is a mildly inconvenient truth. It cannot and will not compel you to tell someone your deep, dark secrets but it MIGHT compel you to admit you forgot to brush your teeth this morning....

You've never seen a cell phone before? Do you have all your memories?

[ He is just going to totally pretend nothing happened there. ]

Hmm, I'm not sure if I've seen one before. Hey, my memories are gone! How did you know?

[He's very wide-eyed at that.]

You and me are kind of in the same boat. I can't remember a lot of who I was either. They say it happens sometimes when we wake up.

[tobluerafters]

[He nods.] So we are the same. We could search for them together.

[Not that he seems altogether worried about his memories. They'll show up eventually, he's sure.]

Or we could just explore. I think I'd like to see what else this place has around here, there's already so much!

[malignstar]

Uh, it's not really a matter of searching. More like earning them back...

What are you interested in?

[tobluerafters]

Oh? And how would we go about doing that?

[He throws his arms around, indicating the whole of the train.] Everything! I want to know about everything and experience everything! Like... like...

[He glances about for an example, then runs over to a table.] Just look at this! [He points to a lamp.] It's so bright! But there's no fire. Is it magic? Who cast it? How does it keep going? I have no idea!

There's a few ways. The easiest is bonding with people. You can do that with either physical affection or your team's special bonding technique. I don't know if you guys do a lot of the special bonds so I don't really remember what yours is. You'll have to ask. Otherwise, hugging is a good default. You like hugs?

Oh, so you're not familiar with electricity. You would be impressed by a lot now. Anyway, that's a lamp. It doesn't need magic because it's powered by electric currents. Though how we get electrical currents in this place beats me. I've never seen a grid around. Maybe Cardy knows. Or maybe it is a special magic meant to mimic science. Trippy.

[Physical affection. Oh... kay.... Klarion looks Very Unsure.]

I... don't know?

Electricity. Lamp. [He nods, trying to retain it all though he hardly comprehends what it actually means.] Electric currents. Grid. Cardy? Trippy?

Oh, well, we don't have to rush into things if you're not feeling it. It might be easier with one of your teammates.

Cardy's my nickname for Prince Cardamom. He's the one who woke everyone up here so we can restore the stars.

[tobluerafters]

That may be for the best. [He just can't think of any time he hugged someone before. Of course, he can't think of anything that he's done before, but the idea of it is still a little too new to him.]

That's right! It said so on the Chain thing! I only read some of that. But do we really restore stars here? What does that really mean?

[malignstar]

So the stars are corrupted by the Malice. We do trials and share bonds to purify them. Then the people who live on the star wake up again.

[tobluerafters]

Trials are definitely a way to purification. Or at least that sounds right. [Still not sure how Bonds work, but latent Puritan sensibilities ring true.]

What happens if we don't purify the star?

[malignstar]

I guess the Malice gets worse until there's nothing left. But we don't let that happen so don't worry about it.

[tobluerafters]

Oh, I wasn't worried. Just curious.

[In fact, he probably seems a little too unworried about the possibility of a world and all its people getting swallowed up, but yeah. He just can't relate.]

I'm willing to play at being a hero for a while. At least until I get my memories back. Then maybe I'll try doing something else.

[malignstar]

That's the spirit! Though there's nowhere else we can go until everything's fixed so I'm not sure what else there is to do.

[tobluerafters]

I could always go see what I missed before. What stars were purified before I arrived. Or can we go to them whenever we want?

[That might be fun. Seeing what's already been saved. Or maybe just disappearing to find whatever else is out there to see, if possible.]

Are we sure there isn't anything left untouched by Malice?

[malignstar]

I think that's up to the train. We can't really travel without it. Even if you powers or wings.

Well, there's not much on this star. That's for sure.

[tobluerafters]

I didn't think about that.

[Perhaps two feet can only get you so far when you're in a place as bizarre as this.]

Have you seen anything interesting? I'm not going to be bored this whole time, am I? [Now that comes out plaintive.]

We used to have a river that was full of honey. And those deadly gingerbread men are probably still around.

Most of the really bizarre stuff happens during trials though.

But if you're super bored, I've got an idea you might enjoy.

[tobluerafters]

Ooooh! That sounds yummy! [Is he talking about the river or the gingerbread men? Who knows! Maybe both.]

Is that right? Well, tell me then!

I don't have to tell you. I'll show you.

[ Unfurls his black feathered wings ]

[Klarion's eyes go WIDE and he's clapping, absolutely thrilled by the change of events.]

Ooooh! I didn't realize you could do that! Can you really fly? I wanna see!

[malignstar]

You bet I can. Want to come with?

[tobluerafters]

[Hmm, should he trust this man? Probably not. Does he trust this man? Eh. Is that going to stop him from going? Absolutely not.]

Yes, yes! I want to fly!

[malignstar]

[ What are you talking about? Felix is the epitome of trustworthy.

Which is why he's taking to the air before diving back down and grabbing Klarion around the chest to fly back up ]
