INTROS + MONTHLIES

Who: Everyone
When: Day 60, evening
Where: the Aurora

[The Candy Hearts are gone-- or at least, they're no longer all over the place. If you kept a few for your own purposes then well, feel free to enjoy yourself. Live your best life!

Though you may have just got out of a Trial recently, there is the sound of an announcement on your Chain: ]
WELCOME NEW HEROES

[And indeed, there is another round of newbies waking up in their rooms, in the usual nondescript undies or team pyjamas. They'll get their basic welcome message and a prompt to view the IC Guide.

"Someone" has seen to bring refreshments to greet the newbies. It's sparkling water, refreshingly cool and surprisngly sugar-free considering the surroundings. If you choose to drink it, you will find yourself instantly refreshed, almost as if you'd gotten a full day's rest. You will also find that the very next thing you say to someone is a mildly inconvenient truth. It cannot and will not compel you to tell someone your deep, dark secrets but it MIGHT compel you to admit you forgot to brush your teeth this morning....

Have fun and enjoy meeting your new people! ]

[[OOC NOTES: As the monthly prompt, the sparkling water will continue until next month's placements. If you have any questions, please ping the mods via the q&a. Thank you!]]

[More new arrivals— Towa never knows what to expect with these things. What she never would have expected was a familiar face like this.

She doesn’t know what to expect. Will he remember anything? And even if he does— will he remember her? None of those things are guaranteed as she’s learned here.

But she hasn’t let it stop her yet. This can’t be any different.
]

...you’re not wrong about that. Regardless, welcome to the Aurora.

[No matter how it turns out, goddess is she happy to see him.]

Good to see you too.

[ Unsurprisingly (or maybe surprisingly), he suddenly looked more attentive as soon as Towa had come into the picture here. Why should't he? Even though by his estimation it hadn't been too long since he'd seen her.

It's good to know that she looked like she was doing well. ]

Not anything like it's been on the previous trains we've been taken to, is it? There was this boring explanation I read, but figured it couldn't hurt to see if they're not trying to spring another kind of "trial" on us.

Ah--

[Not even Towa realized just how badly she'd been hoping that maybe he'd remember. After finding out Rean didn't remember her at all and Crow only remembered a little-- she'd prepared herself for the worst.

But this time, that's not the case.

She can't help it. For her, it hasn't been such a short time. And honestly, she's just really happy. Towa runs over and hugs him tightly.
]

It's... a little more complicated, I'm not surprised you don't know how to feel about it. It's not all good-- but... it's not the same as those, either.

[ It was strange that not so long ago they had a reunion not all that long ago, but here they were, having another one. Maybe it was a little amusing too, but he's not about to complain...noooot too much, anyway.

He felt her arms wrapped around him tightly, and kind of just rests a hand against her small back, after sliding an arm around her. ]

Would say hearing that it's not the same is already better, but I don't doubt these ones could be a new giant pain of it's own.

[ ... ]

Funny that it hadn't even been long, and still meeting up like this feels just like how it was when we reunited back in that strange Hall.

...huh?

[Her face looks confused for a moment. She doesn't know where he's talking about. But then... well. Being on board a few trains now, she's familiar the tricks that timing can play in these matters.

Whatever she missed-- couldn't be that different, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Towa steps back with a sheepish smile.
]

Oh. Well... I suppose it hasn't been that long but-- I've been here quite a while already. But that means I can fill you in a little on what it's like.

...?

[ ...That was a strange reaction.

He'll let his hand fall back to his side, idly wondering about it, but figured that it probably didn't matter for now, so ehh. It's whatever. ]

Might as well start somewhere. There was the guide, and read through most of it as I could, but after awhile couldn't help my attention wandering elsewhere to something possibly less boring.

BOND

[personal profile] overworker 2020-03-19 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Heehee... I had a feeling you might have struggled with that. That's alright. Then Instructor Towa will just have to give you her crash course lecture!

[And also earn him some points in the process.]

Alright. So here's what you need to know. This train travels to different locations-- the objective is to purify them. And each of the locations are a little different. There are often threats outside of the train, so if you're bored, I'm sure you'd find some entertainment out there. But the train itself is protected, so we're safe here until we move to the next location.

From time to time there will be trials-- not like the ones before. Think of them more as tests or challenges. Each of them are unique in their own ways. Some of them are dangerous, others might not be. The rules are always explained at the start, so you'll know what to do when the time comes... even if it's not always pleasant.

[She sure has some trial trauma.]

We're split onto different teams-- based on the clothes they gave you, it looks like you're a member of Licorice. That means you're on Crow's team. Each team has unique ways of bonding with one another. For example, what I'm doing right now-- teaching is one of my team's bonds. By doing this with you, I can earn you some points that you can spend either on getting items from home or other goods. For you, well...

[Ahahaha...]

Licorice's bonds are strong displays of emotion and various occult practices. So you... might have better luck interacting with other people's bonds.

[ At least it'll probably be also easy to stage fights far away from the train.

...Yes, of course he was thinking of that. Whenever was he not? ]

Sounds like they could be interesting. Especially the dangerous ones, now that I've got my powers back. Guess they could be worth my time after all.

[ Because the answer to danger is just to fight it, right? This'll definitely be fine. He didn't doubt that she was speaking from experience, given everything they experienced before on the two other trains. Still, he had to wonder which ones she's gone through already...and as she was continuing talking, theeeeen there was the kicker. ]

Could always look into some occult nonsense but otherwise feels like I shouldn't bother with those 'bonds'.

Ehehe... I had a feeling you might say that.

[There was a reason she made sure to include that information. She likes to think she knows him fairly well by now.]

If you have your memories and your powers in tact, they aren't as necessary for you as they are for other people. Some people have to work to get those back while others like us have been more fortunate and were able to keep them in tact.

[She's glad he doesn't have to worry about that.]

Mostly likely, if there's anything worth regaining for you, it would be a weapon. I was able to get my own back with a bit of saving. Although... perhaps now I should consider purchasing a sword as well to keep up with my training.

[ She's one of the few people who do, and definitely one of those he would say actually did, unlike how a certain Echthroi would claim it would. Not that it matters, since the thing's dead and all. ]

You should. Could come in handy one day.

I'd have asked if you'd been practicing much since you've been here, but if you've been here long enough without making do with someone else's, your edge would've easily dulled.

[ Yeah he's just blunt like that, but she knew that by now. Though speaking of long stays and memories, he's thinking now back to her earlier comment. ]

What's the last thing you remember?

[She knows-- which is why his training had been so valuable in the first place.]

I've had to make due with others, I didn't drop it entirely. But once I got my orbal gun back, it wasn't as necessary.

[She'd naturally gravitated back to what she was best at. Although she knows that's pretty sloppy of her.

When he mentions her last memories though, she gets a bit quieter.
]

Right... well. After we were free to go home from Perdurance, I went back and properly accepted a position at the Branch Campus. But that was months ago. Since then, things at home have been... difficult. But I was ushered into the castle, where I was kept safe after the twilight started. It was during my time there that I was recruited and brought aboard the Aurora.

[...sure doesn't include any knowledge of your second round of fun with Ecthroi though.]

[personal profile] otherworldlyking 2020-03-20 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Plenty sloppy, but...he's got a soft spot for her and wasn't the type to nag, plain and simple. So, he'll listen to her speak, and...

That's actually not really what he was expecting at all? His first thought was memories, but she all but seemed to confirm that she hadn't lost them. So she was somehow ripped from an earlier time somehow...? So she's a Towa that he knew, but effectively did not experience or gain knowledge of certain things.

Honestly, it's good he found this out now rather than later...considering what uh, happened when they had met each other again back in the Hall. Though, it's kind of annoying him on principle. ]

Good thing everything's worked out for you so far, then. Would've been a pain if you were pulled into another one of those annoying 'games'.

[ That's not why he asked, though it's true that he'd think it'd have been irritating if it'd happened, but luckily it seems the timelines didn't diverge that much—all the same it's just enough to make significant difference. ]

Guessing you don't know about the other 'game' that wasn't on a train, then.
overworker: (pic#13539205)

[personal profile] overworker 2020-04-13 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
...another game?

[Well she had learned about the existence of other, unrelated yet similar "games" through her former teammate Inaba, the other had been entirely certain that there wasn't any connection between the two. Even so, she dreaded to think that another might have affected him, regardless of connection or not.]

I've heard that other games like the one that we survived exist. But I don't know much about them. The only one I really know about is the one we survived.

[He wouldn't just bring it up for nothing though-- that's not McBurn. But if she didn't know did that mean he was targeted when she was back home safe without her knowledge...?]

...don't tell me...

[By which she absolutely means spill it. What the heck happened??]
otherworldlyking: (29)

[personal profile] otherworldlyking 2020-04-24 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly as you think what happened.

[ He's not going to sugar coat it, because why would he? ]

Somehow we managed to get pulled another killing game. Kind of was a real big pain this time too; was pretty much a good thing you weren't there.

Instead of on a train was in this world and some city I don't care to remember the name of...if there was name at all.

[ It meant for the most part he could just not have to worry too much about her. Because yeah, he did care about what happened with her. Though, Vita was there, but eh he'll get there in his explanation or maybe they won't because McBurn and explanations could be kind of touch and go. ]
