INTROS + MONTHLIES
Who: newbies + everyone
When: Day 56, late morning
Where: The Aurora and surrounding area
[Yet again this morning, you get an announcement on your Chain:
When you're done welcoming them, or while you're at it, you'll notice that while clocks say it's late morning, the sun has still not risen. As it was on the first Star, the sky remains dark and empty and the air somewhat cold. Not cold enough for the frost you see on the windows, though...
From a distance, the frost looks like a typical wintery pattern of ice, beautiful and delicate. But on inspection it's not frost at all -- it's a sugary mold climbing up the sides of the train and, outside the immediate clearing, growing in thick fuzzy patches on the trees and bushes.
Touching or inhaling this mold will cause your skin to start to crystallize painfully into sugar. Physical affection will heal you, but it'll also give you a psychic link to the person you touched. For a few hours you can sense eachothers emotions, and in some cases even share thoughts or memories.
The mold will last for the remainder of the OOC month, but who knows what else tomorrow will bring!]

Newbies are waking up in their rooms, in pyjamas or in nondescript team-coloured underwear. As usual they get the basic welcome message, as well as a prompt to view the IC guide.WELCOME NEW HEROES

[Also Loki barely seems to register her at all. He's staring at his stricken hand and soon starts making gestures with his other hand. The crystallizing hand goes back to normal, then turns blue, before returning to the icy white creeping up from his fingers towards his arm.]
No... how... why...
no subject
[Well, this is horrifying.]
Loki, stay with me. [And she's gonna grab his arm and pull it down to look over this crystallization.] Describe the feeling, is it mixing with your magic at all?
no subject
This- why is it different this time, why does it hurt...
[He's shaking his head wildly.] I- I am truly cursed...
no subject
[Listen, no one lives for years around Pinkie Diane Pie even as an enemy and not learn what rock sugar looks like. Let alone when one is a pony where desserts are a Big Deal.]
Let me see it, we need to see if it's spreading!
no subject
[He blinks through the tears and looks again, almost touches it with his good hand before recoiling. Then he gasps as the crystallization reaches his wrist and he gets another wave of pain.]
It's- spreading. Fast.
My dagger. I need to- [And a scream.]
no subject
[And then there's a scream and she flinches.]
[Nope, gonna grab at his hand with telekinesis to pull it out, a hoof wrapping around at his elbow, the other at his waist to leverage her up to see it better.]
[Have a weird pony hug, Loki.]
no subject
[Which seems to count as enough physical affection, as the crystallization starts reversing. Loki takes a few deep breaths and stares at the retreating sugar line.]
Solar- it's- healing- what did you do?
[If she can feel his emotions, there's the obvious panic. A lot of horror feeding into that, even with him calming overall. There's confusion, and gratitude, and a lot of shame, that feeds into a sense of self-loathing. Loki's quite the mess of emotions.]
Bond
[And there is a lot of ???? mixed with Concern. It's a lot harder for her to notice other things coming in because it's happened a few times, but it's not overwhelming her so she can just focus on the Problem first.]
[Might examine those feelings later, but Priorities.]
I'm not doing anything, so what could it... [She trails off because the feelings DO make it obvious she's touching Loki.] .... [Time to experiment. Is this a weird pony affect, or is this contact?]
[Shifting to Human and going to get Loki a proper hug, even if she's keeping her eyes on the crystal.]
[Though might as well get Sparks out of it too because why not.]
no subject
Is it... the hug? Positive affection saving us, as the Prince has told us?
no subject
[But it is getting the sugar crystal to go away so she's just gonna keep hugging him until it's Gone.]
no subject
[The sugar is finally gone, but Loki keeps looking at his hand and flexing it. There's a memory of a blue giant grabbing his wrist, and the whole area turning blue, the same color as the attacker's skin.]
no subject
[But even if she talks fairly calm, the compliment gets a very strong emotional reaction.]
[And it's doubt and disbelief.]
[Everyone describes friendship and she's either right or completely wrong and there's no inbetween.]
[Her breath hitches though as the memory starts and she quickly let's go like she's been burned because she knows he doesn't want her to do it.]
no subject
[Loki feels the doubt and disbelief, but those are both regular parts of the background radiation of his emotional state, so he doesn't recognize it as external. But it does mix with his other thoughts and send his mind down another, more painful memory hole.]
If he did, he would not have made the mistakes he did.
no subject
[Except she just stops because there's the memory and it's. Honestly, the strongest of her own emotions is confusion because his father just fainted from getting yelled at????]
[And then righteous fury.] How dare he!
no subject
He dares because he is the All-Father, he does not make mistakes. And if he somehow does, then it is impossible that another could be right when he was wrong.
[He pauses. Confusion? And she seemed more personally invested with that outburst, like she'd seen something? He looks between them, notes that they aren't touching.]
Solar... did you see my memory? Though we are not in contact now...
no subject
[Pauses at that because she was too distracted with fury.]
What-but there's no bat this time!
no subject
This place defies any understanding. The only constant is that our minds will be shared in some form and we may have a hint as to how.
no subject
That's just unfair. I barely know how my powers work and now it's gonna be a constant 'did I do this on accident, or is it the train again?' [Which is a real specific problem for her, but it's ANNOYING.]
no subject
That is the worst possibility when one is attempting to master one's own magic.
["Remember, my son, always be aware of what is real, what is your doing, and what is magic unknown. Lose sight of that, and you will never truly master your magic." Frigga's words, and her face, come to his mind, with a lot of feelings of longing. He misses her so much.]
no subject
[Breathes in sharply because oh.]
[Oh.]
[And there is a pang of envy because it'd be nice to remember someone who actually gave her some guidance about all she could do.]
[But also relief.]
...at least she seemed sensible. [Unlike mister SUDDEN NAP.] And nice.
