Who: The Glitter Criminal
When: Day 42, Morning
Where: The Jackal Express

[Hey, Aurora. Do you hear that? A slight whining noise, barely audible over the noises of the train itself?

Well, early in the morning of day 42, that whine becomes a loud POP.

And now all the public cars and all of Senna is literally covered in glitter. Glitter rains from the vents. Shoots out from under seats. Glitter big enough to come in funny shapes. Tiny iridescent glitter that you're never going to get out of your clothes coats the windows, making the scenery glimmer. Glitter everywhere in every shape, size and color.]

How so? I can't say I've noticed that much of a difference. Besides the obvious.

yeah, but that fundamental control over a major aspect of the world is a pretty big obvious difference.

You and I have a very different definition of 'princess'.
daydreamshimmer: (Are you serious)

Princesses are alicorns. That much power needs some direction.

Human princesses are generally not alicorns. Just... female members of whatever family is in charge of the area.

....wait, just female? No special powers at all?

Unless you count that people generally listen to them, no. One of my first postings was as court sorcerer to a princess.
daydreamshimmer: (Unsure)

I don't. That's just authority.

So there's really places where princess is just a title?

At least among the countries I've been. Most people with some sort of special ability don't seek to rule; they have other duties. Occasionally they advised those who ruled.

To be fair, alicorns are immortal. Makes sense to rule, it leads to a consistent level of competence in the government.

How does that work? Bodies wear out.

Alicorns are one of the most powerful creatures in the world. To become one usually means control of a pretty fundamental magic.

You make them sound like the gods.
daydreamshimmer: (I don't like this)

I mean, they kind of are? It's possible to fight an alicorn, but it is dangerous. If they tap into their special brand of magic, then they're gonna win, but it's possible to beat them if you neutralize them before that. But it's not exactly a walk in the park.

That sounds a lot more... active... than the gods are capable of being. But if they have physical bodies, as well as that sort of power...

It sounds terrifying.
daydreamshimmer: (This is so weird)

Re: Senna

Not...really?

I mean, before Celestia, groups of unicorns had to sacrifice all their magic to keep the sun and moon moving around Equestria. And with alicorns around, it was easier to unify the three pony tribes, since they has aspects of all three. And the immortality means a consistency in how things are run over time without needing to do any sudden successions every few decades. If she ever has an heir, she'll have plenty of time to make sure they can handle the job, and step back in again if things do go bad.

Desdemona tends to be... nervous... around gods.

{And boy is that going to get him an earful when she has time]
