The Seventeeth Trial

[Have you enjoyed your day playing in your new train cars? Great! Because now it's Trial Time.

With the usual alert, the Cat's bar appears in the clearing. There's no "come hither" -- instead, just the pounding of bass from the speakers as the door cracks open. Inside there's flashing party lights, upbeat club music, and high-top tables surrounding a wide dance floor. The stage in the corner is empty except for a single microphone.

At the bar you can get free drinks, but you'll have to contend with the bartender -- a black cat curled up on the shelf between the bottles.

On the bar, and on every table, is a sign showing the rules of this game, titled:

Kiss or Dare

If you want to dress up for the club, or want costumes for daring purposes, there's a dressing room behind the stage with a magic closet. You'll find whatever you like in it, but when the trial ends you can only take home what you're wearing!

Sort of! You get some regional differences, different subspecies will have different levels of attitude or variations in appearance, but a lot of it is actually going to be based off the temperament of the summoner. You’re not just getting the first hellhound available, it has to be one that’s even interested in what you have to offer, first.

Aaah, I see. So you'd get the calmer, more friendly sort, right?

I get big, calm, friendly, and focused ones. If I give them a job, they get it done!

Focused is always a plus. The other three are good, but that last one is certainly a lot less headache.

Yeah they might look like dogs, but you do not want to deal with a hellhound that won’t listen to you.

I’ve summoned ones with teeth like crocodiles!

....okay, I'm picturing a lot of things with that. [Crocodiles were more movies than real like things. Maybe some murder planets.] How do they compare to a steak knife?

In length or in shape? Hellhound and crocodile teeth aren’t serrated.

....in shape would be terrifying.

The longest teeth I’ve seen have been about the length of a finger. But there are other kinds of animals with serrated teeth!

That is pretty long.

And yeah. Just I hear crocodiles and I think of some of the aliens I thought. Elites are called gator heads and stuff like that.

You should see dragon teeth. Tiberius has teeth as long as your arm and a mouth to fit them.

That just makes me want to see a living giant dragon one day.

I wish I could show you one, but most of them are extinct. That’s why I went into necromancy.

Tiberius is that big, but I’ve never worked that directly with a live one. There’s a lot of regulations.

I imagine so. You get to work with dragons even if they're dead.
