[Makes a noise that is totally startled and confused but he doesn't stop Dusk immediately.

One, it's nice. It's not like he isn't attracted to Dusk. Kissing him is--really great actually. In a confusing and abrupt way. But this is not, in fact, normal behavior. No one is acting normal except Eliza and she's a lizard.

So after a moment of being bright red and flustered and kissing back Rean gets his act together and puts both hands on Dusk's shoulders and gently pushes himself back enough to not be, uh, liplocked.]

Okay. At the risk of maybe being an asshole, I'm not sure that is um, "you", right now.

[He at least seems to have kissed before, at least. Sorry he's...cold. That's a thing.]

[But he is enjoying the kiss. Rean is warm and feels soft and he's cute. This is nice.]

[He does let himself be pushed back, and his eyes are closed and it's stupid, how much it's helping him focus. Affection does that.]

[He opens his eyes at the question.]

Well, yeah, it's you. But I'm not sure you'd have kissed me like that this morning. We were at--you know what I'm not going to analyze what we were at.

[He keeps his hands on Dusk though! Not pulling back more.]

Just no one else is acting like themselves.

[He closes his eyes, rubs at his temple because ugh. Ugh ugh.]

Don't apologize. I mean, I very much have the opposite of a problem with you kissing me like that. Just, the circumstances strike me as kinda suspect, you know? I don't want to be the guy taking advantage.

[He's. Not sure how to take it right now, if he's honest. His head is kind of skipping a bit to make sense of it. He doesn't have the emotional capacity to dissect all that.]

Okay. Good call. I'm sorry to break this too you but I just don't think eating people suits you. You're gonna have to look into a different career path, I know you had your heart set on it.

I know you were really looking forward to it but I can recommend many non-people eating life paths as alternatives, I'm sure some day you'll adjust to this change in lifestyle.

Well, I guess it's a strength to give up on dreams if you're ill suited.

Sometimes it can't be helped. Have you considered.... Perhaps a career in cat herding?
