Who: All the cute little heroes
When: Day 35, evening
Where: Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Great Outdoors, Just outside the train
[ The beach fades away all at once, taking the cheery sunshine with it as evening hits all at once-- it melts away in a shower of sparkles as the familiar setting re-emerges. There are new stars in the sky above in clover pink, senna red, jasmine blue, and licorice violet.
Just before the beach disappears entirely, the bubbly voice speaks once more: ]
Wasn't that so much fun! You all rrrrrreally got to know each other, didn't you? Keep up the good work~!
[ If you had any alcohol in hand you still have it, otherwise everything from the trial is gone. ]

[Look to him all the elements are the "magic" element.]

...No, I suppose not. I do not have much, if any, presence. That is fine.

[not a good day]
Please forgive my ignorance, Instructor. Or do not. How is Time defined?

[This all sounds like Rean right.]

Images. Sakura. A game. A ruling? The judgement game, and--
Amane...80H straightens, removing her hand.]
Is that meant to represent you?
no subject
Represent? Not really. It's simply what I'm more in tune with elementally. Why?

[He's so confused now.]
I... thanks?
[Is this a thing to say thanks about he doesn't even know.]

That's a common use. Probably the most common, whether as arts or in quartz circuits, time has the best potential to raise your reaction and speed.
But slightly adjacent, if you wanted better reflexes, wind is usually the element to look for. And water would boost your vitality and healing, though they can be strongly offensive, wind and water are some of the most common support type arts.
Fire has most to do with physical strength, though for arts it can enhance your drive and motivation as well as be, well, fire. And earth is mainly defensive, though probably some of the most powerful status effects and many heavy arts can be considered earth type.
Space is light, pure energy and matter or gravitational manipulation, and at the highest level even healing.

Not that she was not before, but she slowly comes more to attention as he explains, listening raptly.]
I suppose it follows, perhaps, that Space would have healing if Time is concerned with death...even if, physically speaking, these concepts are not in opposition to each other, but people act as though they are very often? Interesting. What if an ARCUS is not tuned properly? What happens then? And is it possible to change your lock types?

As for your questions, you can change a battle orbment's locks, but unless you can change your own affinity... how do I explain?
A battle orbment is both a weapon and a finely tuned piece of equipment. Not tuning it is like trying to use a gun that's got its sights off and balance wrong. It'll be unwieldly, take longer, miss a lot, not be as strong. Tuning it against your affinity is like, I don't know, strapping that gun to the end of a broadsword. Sure, now you have more versatility, but it's practically useless versatilty. You can, theoretically, wield that, but it's just not going to yield strong results from either the sword or gun. It's the same way with orbments. Properly tuned they're a great tool, but if they're improperly balanced to you they're never going to give a smooth performance, and may even misfire or fail more often. You won't get even half as much from the quartz you slot.
Very rarely someone has total elemental balance, they can use an unlocked orbment totally fine, and that's the most versatile way, but most people need locks and tuning just like most people need a gun of the right weight or a sword that fits their stature. The analogy to other weapons isn't one for one but you'd need an actual orbal engineer to explain the nitty gritty of it.
For example if I tried to use Crow or Rufus's orbments I could, nothing could stop me, but it'd have to be an emergency to be worth struggling with someone else's tuned orbment.

Thank you, Instructor. That is very informative and your comparisons salient and easily understood.
[she can remember everything he said to record it later, if she feels the need; she has good memory banks after all.
She really needs to take one apart after all.]

Nah, just your interest was nice though. It's fun sharing knowledge.

...Was there anything you wished to know?
