[This morning, or whenever you wake up, you will find that there are delicious smells wafting from the lounge car. Upon investigation, one will discover a beautiful spread of hot cocoa and tea and coffee and many marshmallow animals, ideal for putting in your drinks or simply eating wholesale. It isn't just cats either, but many animals of a similar quality of marshmallow, whatever kinds you'd like. But you may find the warm fuzzies they impart might be a bit more than internal.

In a conspicuous place is a note in handwriting many of you may find quite familiar at this point:

You evidently do not. Yours is a very naive outlook. Horrible or mistrustful people can be kind or trustworthy temporarily if it suits their nefarious and long term purposes. It is not so black and white.

Of course it's not black and white. [Pouring himself another cup of hot cocoa.]

Terrible people can do good things. Good people can do terrible things. Sometimes people can think they're good and be utter monsters and sometimes people carry their guilt so much they can't see what good they have done.

[Taking a sip of his cocoa.] You know, there's a saying how if you kill a murderer, there's still the same amount of murderers in the world. Yet other people will point out if you kill ten murderers, there's nine less. Personally, I believe in the latter. There's a lot who'd believe in the former. That's just how morality, good and evil, function. It's a sliding scale of circumstance.

It's because I know that, that I'm not going to dismiss someone without evidence. Because I know everyone has a breaking point, 80H. Anyone and everyone on this train has the potential to become a monster. The right circumstances, the right pressure, everyone has a point where they stop caring about being good and only care about stopping whatever is hurting them.

[And it's. Disturbingly easy how he can imagine it. There are certain traits, weak points, that like to crop up. How to break them, how to make them strive to act alone, what makes them fight and survive.]

But I also know what isolation does to people. It makes all of that worse. People need to know there's someone out there, willing to watch their back. Terrible people either need to be taken out to stop the terrible, or given an out where they don't have to be terrible. And that takes someone willing to give them a chance.

Plus, even if we take out my being some kind of optimist, we ARE trying to take out an entity that's destroying stars and being an inter dimensional terror. And there's never been a great deed accomplished by one person, it doesn't exist, so the more helping with that, the better.

So I think I'll keep giving you a benefit of a doubt because I want to and because it's better for our continued survival.

She has missed him so much, she realises. she has always liked him a good deal for so many reasons. he's stubborn and stalwart, but will do what needs to be done. How he manages to be soft and kind is nothing short of miraculous. Her lips purse a moment, a stern expression, but it belies her effort to keep them from trembling--but she cannot do this again.
