[This morning, or whenever you wake up, you will find that there are delicious smells wafting from the lounge car. Upon investigation, one will discover a beautiful spread of hot cocoa and tea and coffee and many marshmallow animals, ideal for putting in your drinks or simply eating wholesale. It isn't just cats either, but many animals of a similar quality of marshmallow, whatever kinds you'd like. But you may find the warm fuzzies they impart might be a bit more than internal.

In a conspicuous place is a note in handwriting many of you may find quite familiar at this point:

His signature isn't alone, either. There are a couple of others, though somehow they're far less readable? Some are definitely just little drawings. Weird.]

[Sadly there is not a tiny cat who can easily get away, but instead a brickhouse of a dude with cat ears and that tail she saw.]

[And for all Wash is making nice with people, he's still incredibly on edge and those instincts are still ready so when there's a sudden loud noise, his head is snapping up, and he sees hands flailing and he reacts.]

[Grabbing at those wrists and twisting, trying to get the person pinned on the ground, but that hold isn't quite secure yet.]

[ Hands grabbing for her, oh no?? Oh no!! His fingers have barely touched her wrists before she's twisting away, doing her very best — if entirely unconscious — impression of a slippery eel. ]

[ And, sorry, that might be a knee in his gut- ]

Wah-! Wait, wait, waaaaaaait!

[His instincts are acting, but there are mental notes there. Her reaction time is quick, the moves feel familiar, same technique? Managed to break his grip before he had a decent hold.]

[There's a knee, a grunt even as he grabs her leg and pulls it to the side to try and force her off balance to the ground.]

[Threat neutralized then talk-]

[ But! No! No! All she'd wanted to do is pet a cute kitty and now she's grappling all over the floor, rolling with the man's momentum rather than letting him force her or even get a proper grip on her leg. ]

Stop! Stop it, I tripped, I don't want to fight?!

[ In fact, she might even manage to roll them far enough that she's temporarily on top. Very temporarily. The moment she's up, she dives forward into a handspring, just trying to get away from him - and maybe to grab a chair to use as a shield along the way! ]

[He's not fighting the momentum? He moves so easily, why]

[But he doesn't let her stop them, already moving to get her back under except then she's gone, and he changes tactics, moving into a crouch, grabbing a plate off a table (those poor marshmallows) and gets ready to throw it because surely she has protection by now because that's how one should react-]

[At the very least he stops at the end of the throw, not releasing the plate, staring at the girl and the chair because he doesn't]

[He doesn't feel threatened, but he was still going]

[What the fuck?]

[ It is weird, how easily they move together, flowing from one movement to the next as easy as breathing. Like it's a dance she's somehow memorised, despite not knowing any of the steps. ]

[ She's got the chair up, equally ready to block or yeet, but — ]

[ She doesn't. ]

[ She stares at him staring at her, taking in the plate and the scattered marshmallows, the cat ears and the tail and the bags under his eyes without really focusing on any one thing in particular. ]

[ Takes a breath, and: ]

I can't believe you just wasted all of those marshmallows!

[It's weird. It's very weird because he's looking at her and his first thought is she's small, she's a kid, he could have hurt her]

[Except he knows he's strong, because he can see the muscles there, and he knows he didn't ever grab her as hard as he's sure he could.]

[Then he notices the scars on her and boy. That's familiar, isn't it?]

[He blinks. He looks down.]

[A beat.]

[Then he picks up a marshmallow, checks there's no dirt or hair on it and then pops it in his mouth.] Depends on perspective. [Said through marshmallow mouthful.]

[He's certainly eaten worse even if he can't remember it.]

[ She opens her mouth to say something — to protest, maybe, because that marshmallow has been on the floor. Then she closes it. ]

[ Sets down the chair. ]

[ And picks up a couple of marshmallows for herself, giving them a careful dusting with her fingertips. ]

It would be a shame to let them go to waste. All the same, maybe you should pick your weapons more thoughtfully next time.

[He grins and he'll pick up the marshmallows. Some of the earlier ones got crushed by their roughhousing, so he'll toss those, but anything that hasn't got bits is going on the plate for eating.]

It really would be. Their whole goal in life is to be enjoyed, it'd be wrong to not give them a chance.

And to be fair, I have no idea what my weapons of choice are, though I guess 'throwing' is definitely an option for one of them.

[ On the one hand, she wants to ask what the heck all of that brawling had been about. On the other hand … maybe she doesn't have to ask. Also: marshmallows. She helps pick them up, giving each one tossed away a slightly mournful look. Poor things, they'd deserved better … ]

They did a great job. All of them. Even you, little alligator. [ The alligator-mallow in question is very thoroughly smushed. ]

... Mine's furniture, apparently. Chairs, mattresses ... bed frames ...

[They tried so hard, but could not survive in the face of sibling conflict.]

He really put his all into it. It can't be easy to be that fluffy.

That's pretty impressive, furniture can be pretty unwieldy. Especially in a dress.

[Looking her over more carefully this time, noting those scars. She really is a mess.]

[Okay, but how obvious is the pendant? He's got his tucked under his shirt precisely so it can't be grabbed easily in a fight.]

I, uh. I wasn't … you know … wearing it. At the time.

[ She woke up, saw her scars, assumed she'd been kidnapped, and just assaulted the first person to barge into her room. It's only after all of that nonsense that she'd finally gotten dressed, hiding at least some of the scars beneath adorable sweater dress and knee high socks. ]

[ The necklace is also hidden, tucked away under her sleeve. She's wearing it as a bracelet. ]

I guess I'm just really down to fight! [ Ahaha. Ha. Ha ... ]

....that is rather awkward. [Considering the state of dress he woke up.] I'm guess someone checked on you?

Apparently. Well, you handled yourself pretty well.

Uh huh. Rean. He's really nice, now that I know he isn't an evil alien kidnapper … [ Scratches her cheek, laughing sheepishly. ]

[ But gosh, now she's really starting to wonder where the heck all of her mysterious scars came from. Was she in some kind of underground fight club?? ]

Uhm, thanks, I think. But I won't lie, I had no idea what I was doing. It just felt ... [ Waves a hand like she's trying to pluck the right words out of the air. ] Natural? Like I've done it before.

Oh yeah. I talked to him earlier. Really friendly. Incredibly blunt. [Also hit him in his team kokoro feels.]

Practice. The key to being a really good fighter is being able to not think. React on instinct. Do it it enough and you can judge what you need to do for what you want.

[ Super friendly … and she assaulted him with a bed ]

[ It's kind of embarrassing! ]

It's hard not to like him, right?

[ As for the rest of what Wash says - ]

Oh my god, maybe I really was in a secret fight club!

[Well, at least you make a strong impression!]

It is very hard to not like him. [Which is why he offered a contingency sex plan.] He helped me test out what I have instincts for.

[He looks over what skin is exposed.]

Well. You're not wrong. You seem to use things around you, which would imply abnormal fighting scenarios.

[ There are so many scars, Wash. So many. She notices him looking, blushes, and … pulls down one of her socks to display a leg that's absolutely more scar than skin. ]

They're everywhere. It's why I freaked out when I first woke up … [ Shakes her head. ] But if I'm a member of a secret fight club, what about you? You look like you've got just as many scars as me, and reflexes ... maybe you're a secret agent!

Yeah, I can see how that'd be cause for concern, especially at your age.

[Looking down to take note of those scars and he's frowning because she is REAL YOUNG to be having that amount of scarring.] More. My torso may be more scar tissue than not. [DO NOT SAY THE SAME IS FOR YOU, this is sad enough as is.]

I was thinking more military. I'd be a pretty bad secret agent for the number of times I've been shot and the probable grenades.

Whatever age that is. [ She's at the very least nineteen now. ]

[ Ah … ] My torso is just as bad. Like I said, they're everywhere; it's like there's more scars than skin. [ It's kinda spooky and she's not sure she wants to think too seriously about it. Hence: ]

Wait, no! I've got it. You were military, until one day — maybe you just got tired of all the grenades, or maybe something super dramatic happened! And you decided you wanted a career change. So now you're the cop in charge of trying to shut down my fight ring, and that's why fighting each other felt familiar. [ ... ] It ... did feel weirdly familiar for you too, right?

Jesus Christ. [That is definitely distress on his face because she's a kid. She's! A! Kid!!!!!]

.... [He's silent for several long moments, comparing how he reacted to her and how he reacted to Rean. When it was Rean, it was hard to judge how much he needed to hold back. He was pulling back his punches, but he hadn't been sure it was enough.]

[He hadn't been thinking in fighting her. Not like Rean, not between letting instincts happen, but not TOO much.]

It was. Rean and I think I might have physical augmentations. I wasn't even thinking of watching my strength with you, but....I didn't really hurt you, did I?

[ It's! It's fine. She's alive and, sure, she's an amnesiac, but now that she's had some time to calm down after the initial shock … she's honestly okay? It's something she can work with. ]

[ Stupid jokes about special agents and fight clubs helps, too. ]

Physical augmentation …? [ He's a secret agent for sure. She shakes her head though. ] Nope, not at all. Did I hurt you-? [ She very much doubts it. ]

I'm stronger and denser than I look. Harder hits, take them better. Goes with the chips at the back of my neck.

[Absolutely a secret agent.]

No, not really. It was a good move with the knee, but I also got hit by a rock earlier with barely any signs of it connecting.

And I was expecting some kind of shield. It....could be a coincidence.

....but it wouldn't be hard to figure out if it was the case or not.

[ Oh my gosh??]

Whoa … [ Super special superhuman secret agent. ] That's so cool! You're just like a hero in an action movie.

[ Brings a hand to her chin, thoughtful. ]

Mostly, I just knew I couldn't let you get a grip on me. [ But that's just common sense, right? He's easily twice her size. ] What do you have in mind?

A good call with the size difference.

Clover has a lot of stuff for padding. Could do an actual spar. Probably more focused on grappling, I don't want to do any punching quite yet.
