[As the final session of exploring the town ends, it's getting close to dawn.

There's a break of about an hour, while the explorers return, licking their wounds. Then, a flash of dark, violet sparkles, and a petite young man with many many wings appears, standing atop the train.

Some of you have heard his voice before, speaking of justice in Trials. You might've heard about him, and how there's "something wrong with him", too. This is The Angel, and his wings are dyed a deep black, with feathers falling out in a sickly way. He doesn't look too pleased, but he also doesn't look like he's about to attack.]

So, you searched. What did you find out? I want to know if you really think this universe is worth saving.

If it's not... Then there's no point to your existence, is there?

[Well. He's not attacking yet, anyway. He is taking a moment to gesture at your deertaur companion though -- a wisp of black wind is pulled out of his mouth.]

I'll give you one chance.

[At least your dead companions are safe? They're waking up now in their rooms, none the worse for wear. But they remember dying, and they have a deep sense that they've seen a kind of void no person should ever look into.]

[ It's not like Naeva doesn't know he has trust issues that haven't gone away just because of a moment of enforced emotional bonding so shhhhh. ]

[One of these days someone is going to get through to you, Crow, and she'll only be slightly miffed Rean managed it when she couldn't!]

I'm not interested in accepting delusional lies, Naeva.

[ Rean hasn't fully managed it yet, but he is the likeliest candidate for getting through to him first. ]

[It's fine. Maybe then you can convince Rean he has value.]

In the first place, delusions can't be lies, as lies are an active twisting of the facts. In the second place, it's no delusion to be poking holes in your ego.

They're lies borne of delusions, my phrasing stands. And my ego doesn't need any holes poked in it, I like it the way it is.

I'd like to argue, but I don't think anyone else on this train has one to begin with.

You really think they'll do it on their own?

[She says it lightly, sounding genuinely curious.

She's met 80H and Rean, she knows they will not.]

Not entirely, but it's up to them in the end so they'll have to do at least some of the heavy lifting.

[She considers this.

And just thousand-yard stares off into space, over the horizon.]

[ He laughs at the look on her face and pats her head. ]

Train should have brought a therapist. Maybe we'll get lucky and someone qualified will show up?

What's a therapist?

[desirestruth]

A sort of doctor that focuses specifically in helping people process and heal from, or at least better cope with, psychological trauma. It's a newer discipline in the Empire, or at least it's newly being formally taught outside the nobility, now.

[bad_crowmance]

[ He considers that for a moment. ]

For all we know, we could get one and they'd have amnesia so we'd never guess it.
