[The sun has gone down when the heroes receive an unmarked message:

This Star has secrets you should know. If you want to find them, follow the light.

Should they look outside, they will in fact see a light -- a thin but bright pillar rising from the overgrown town out in the jungle.

It's still raining, still covered in frogs, but there's definitely something going on.

And in the direction of the beach, there's also a faint, bell-like ringing. But that's not what's calling you right now... is it?]

[ first of all he was trying to talk to your (ex???) (girlfriend???) (teammate??????)

second of all he doesn't even have his surplice.

not that that matters to her of course. there's no honor or love lost between them.

it sure fucking sucks for him though as he didn't even see it coming. he doesn't even have the time to be surprised by the chain before the electricity surges through his body. and he gasps out a strangled sound, falling to his knees. blindly grabbing for the chain itself, to try and wrench it away even as his fingers twitch from the shocks surging through his skin.

what the fuck sophie. ]

[ just starts fucking laughing. peals of it, deep and loud and obnoxious and wholly unrestrained ]

Gahahahahaha! What the hell are you wearing? What is that? Holy shahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahah!

[ once her laughter peters away, her voice shifts to something higher, softer, utterly void of humor. ]

What the hell are you doing here.

Ras-ma-ki-mou.

[ as if he's going to answer that. as if he can answer that. somehow the laughter is even more aggravating, ringing through his head for far longer than the aftershocks. it just drives him to move-- reaching up as her laughter dies down, to grab the chain still connected to his throat.

even without his surplice he's still a specter. he pulls on the chain-- aiming to either pull her closer, or pull himself up to his feet. he'd brought a shard of glass with him from within the ruined basement. as he rises to his feet he scrapes it from where he'd dropped it on the ground. it probably cuts into his palm. he doesn't even notice. he's lashing back with it. ]

[ she might as well, right? all she has to do is think about it. ]

Come on, let's see what you're really made of.

[ goading is easy.

the Andromeda cloth is primarily powerful as a defense.

the chains surge and spiral into the path of Ras's hand, blocking the blow even as Sophie winds back her own arm to aim a punch at his face in the moment when they disperse again ]

[ the glass breaks upon contact with the chains. unsurprisingly. he should have never attempted to rely on anything besides himself. the shards dig deep into his skin and the blood burns as it flows, but not as much as his blind anger.

phoenix-- bennu-- doesn't need any form of defense. he just needs to burn himself out until the end. sophie's fist connects with his jaw and he stumbles, but he doesn't stop. he grabs her by the wrist and pulls down to twist it back, using his size and momentum against her. to close the distance. he'll grab her by the throat with his other hand. if he's lucky there will still be glass left in it. ]

[ makes a choking noise, with a futile instinctive jerk as she tries to pull away - and the chain still looped around Ras's neck constricts in turn, electrocuting him again ]

[ doesn't electricity travel?

well no matter. the electricity runs hot through his veins, burning him from the inside out. no doubt he be able to withstand it without scarring... if he can at all. he sinks forwards with a choked noise, but this time he holds tight onto his target. even tighter maybe, as his muscles contract with the electricity.

they're so damn close now, and he can't help but breathe out something close to a short, raspy laugh ]

You... already trying to kill me? Even though..hah... I've been brought here... as a 'hero'.

[ it does. sometimes you electrocute yourself for the greater good.

rasps out a hysterical noise that can barely be called a laugh herself.

and tries to punch him in the face with her other hand ]

[ well.

he gets punched.

he sways, blood spilling from a split in his lip, but he doesn't let go. he can't let go. he's on auto pilot now, his fingers just tightening on her throat. one of them will die here. of this he is certain. it's only up to fate who gives out first. ]

[Okay, children, time to go in the timeout corner.

80H arrives on the scene and assesses the situation in an instant. Electricity is a hot mess of a weakness of hers, but she needs to get involved, she doesn't trust that her words will carry.

If anything, her desire for this to end might make them try to kill each other faster.

She breaks Midnight's hand at the wrist to make him let go--trying to pull his hand off might result in Breeze's throat getting torn out with all that pressure.]

Enough. Both of you. Let him go, Breeze-han.

[ she notices 80H a fraction of a second too late to keep her from grabbing onto Midnight's wrist - too bad about that tunnel vision - but only a fraction of a second. even with the other end still wrapped around his throat, the chains react fast and move even faster into place, weaving a rapid net-like barrier that centers itself around her arm, making it hard for her to move ]

Stay out of it.

the actual pain barely registers, but it's enough to shock him out of the blackness edging his vision. his fingers tremble, his grip going slack even as he struggles to hold on--

he doesn't agree verbally, but. he has a free hand.

ripping his wrist away from her (or at least trying,) he turns to aim a blind punch at this new threat. ]

[Correction: he had a free hand.

If she is surprised by his strength, she does not show it, nor is she--she has seen some of what he is capable of.

She snaps that wrist too, very neatly.]

You are making "it" my and everyone else's problem by proximity. This is not a duel, I can taste the killing intent like a poor wine.

[Her arm is caught in this net of chains, and she can take an honest moment to appreciate the weaving of it even as her hand is ensnared. But she has legs free, so while still holding onto Midnight, water appears in a burst to give her added speed and with the momentum, she is going to attempt to flip backward and catch Breeze's neck between her legs before twisting her entire body and tranferring the force to bring Breeze down to the ground.

Hard.]

What the hell-- LET GO of me! [ just. snaps. he's on the ground now with two broken hands and some crazy bitch holding onto him like he's some misbehaving child. he's reached... a limit. of some kind. that's for sure. ]

She isn't supposed to harm humans. In fact, a part of her really dislikes having to do so, but the alternative is allowing them to harm themselves to such dangerous degrees. Thus, can she circumvent her programming.

Also. They're being ridiculous.

She does let go of Midnight, actually, twisting her legs in a sharp spin to give herself enough momentum to land back on her feet.

Except one of those feet are on Breeze's chest. She keeps the pressure light, she doesn't want to break her ribcage, but she is not going to let up easily, either.]

Let us both go and stop this.

[She glances at Midnight.]

[ starts fucking

wheezing laughing

rasping, heaving for breath through a throat full of glass, with an easy sincerity as the chains mostly collapse with a metal rattle to the ground ]

[ mostly. the chain at Ras's neck goes loose, but doesn't come free. ]

[ midnight is honestly much less willing to listen to 80H for the sake of listening to her, but breaking the uneasy truce would be near meaningless at this point. the rasping laughter coming from sophie makes him feel sick. he should go. he should... ]

You should have left us alone. [ just growls low in his throat as he reaches up to try and remove the rest of the chains himself. he knows that sophie hasn't backed down entirely. his hands are nearly fucking useless, but he doesn't want them touching his skin anymore ]

Unless you want to make this into a hobby.

Do not speak, Breeze-han. You can fight me, if you have the energy for it. Whenever you wish. I would prefer it to this.

[She is going to gently, but firmly kick the chains away from Midnight, because she trusts Breeze about as far as she can th--no she could throw her very far.

Point being, no trust!!! Chains go]

I will heal both of you, and you will not begin again freshly.

[To Midnight:]

I enjoy hobbies.

[But she is going to kneel by Breeze's side first and wrap her throat in an orb of water. She removes the glass--carefully--and begins healing her throat.

Breeze won't feel a thing of pain, only cool comfort and safety.]

[ the chains tighten around his neck again, thwarting both their attempts to get rid of it - and sends another shock. tilts her head vaguely away from the attempts to heal the glass too- though she doesn't make a real move to stop it, so maybe it's more like just baring her throat, if not for the look on her face and the weight of her voice. ]

The problem's proximity, right? Just tell me where to take our date instead.

[ fuck you too sophie.

he can't say he didn't expect something like that, but it still sends him coughing violently to shake off the pain. his shoulders tremble from the force. ... or is that laughter? ]

If you're that keen on killing me, you can do it later. [ half-wheezes out. as he attempts to push himself to stand. stubbornness really runs in the family. ]

And I don't need your help. Not now, and not in the future.

[you're getting healed you useless bisexual, but oh 80H isn't having this shit]

[oh for heaven's sake--Those chains are special, she doesn't know if she can break them.]

Do you not understand? It is not merely proximity but doing the enemy's job for them.

[She snaps coldly and thinks of naeva for a moment wondering if she'd laugh or give her a look, but it doesn't matter. 80H avoids people, she doesn't go out of her way to speed up the process by fighting them to the death.

She hears Midnight, but doesn't think to form a reply, since Breeze holds her attention with her RENEWED STRANGLING ATTEMPTS.

Fuck it.

She is going to try and pull the chains off Midnight's throat.]

[ plants her fist on the ground and pushes herself back up onto her feet, tangling her free hand in a few more loops of chain ]

We're supposed to bond? Get to know each other, get all close and cozy?

Not a fucking chance. Hey, what happens when you drop off and the Malice eats you or whatever, anyway? It's not like death, right? Maybe he just stops existing?

Bet you'd love that.

[ and she sends. a much stronger surge down the chains again. ]
