Who: newbies + you
When: Day 22, evening
Where: around

[This evening, out of nowhere, Hazel's carriage disappears. There's a shower of sparkles, a bright light, and after that... it's gone. Anyone who was in its hallway is now in the Garden entrance. The Garden car itself is now hooked to Clover's carriage, as if it had aways been and Hazel was never real. Clover itself is currently bare as well -- the lock screen is dull, completely turned off, and there are no lights inside. No one is there, now, but at least the space remains.

In some carriages, that loss of vibrancy is countered by the appearance of some new heroes. In general, the gloomy mood throughout the train is only heightened by the onset of a heavy storm. Outside there's a crack of thunder that rattles the train, and it begins to pour so hard the edge of the clearing is barely visible through the windows.

The rain, the thunder, and the strobe-light effect of constant lightning will continue til dawn.]

That's... That sounds rough.

[????????????????????????

like that catches her a bit off guard like]

Why would it be? That is the point. There is no hardship if I ignore what does not matter.

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-17 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
You're saying how other people see you doesn't matter, good or bad. Maybe that's, I don't know, something you like, I guess.

[She shrugs, an elegant roll of her shoulders.

it's a lie and it's not, but she's just met rean, does not like rean, and so feels no compunction to be truthful, honest, or to make an effort.]

It is what it is. I will do as I must.
awakenerd: (77)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-17 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Right.

[He has his own opinions but she's obviously stubborn and not open to talking so he isn't sure what else to say.]

Well. All that aside, it's interesting how you could read my state so easily. Are you a witch?
voreaciously: (34)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-17 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely not. [she is quick to answer and with a little disdain.]

I am a mage, not a witch.
awakenerd: (?)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-17 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey don't dis witches.]

What's the difference?
voreaciously: (47)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-17 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
[we dissin 'em]

Witchcraft lacks conventional, appreciable structure in its disciplines. It is wild and arcane, often difficult to control.

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-17 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Is that how it is where you're from?
voreaciously: (20)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-17 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
It is what I am accustomed to, yes.
awakenerd: (33)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-17 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Got it. So you're a mage. What else can you sense?
voreaciously: (47)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-17 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
[she isn't going to tell him everything.]

I perceive different forms of energy and beings. I cannot say all the time now, because we are from different worlds and so foreign entities may lie beyond my capabilities.

[again, not telling the scope of her shit because TRUST!! but she concedes after a moment:]

I can also detect water.

[that might be useful to others, so.]
awakenerd: (?)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-17 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Water?

[That's oddly specific.]
voreaciously: (91)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-17 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
It is what I am bound to, elementally speaking. Thus, I am connected to it and am aware of matters concerning it.
awakenerd: (87)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-18 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. That's pretty cool.
voreaciously: (53)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-18 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Her tone of voice is very calm, but the question is defensive.]

...Are you making fun of me?

[Because. She cannot tell. Like, she doesn't really care, but she wants to know.]
awakenerd: (191)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-18 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Why would I even--no, I'm not.
voreaciously: (85)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-18 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Then yes, it is. My magic is worthwhile.

[THERE. A POSITIVE THING. get off her now]
awakenerd: (21)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-18 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
[WAS THAT SO HARD]

It's good to have confidence in your abilities.
voreaciously: (196)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-18 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
[yes, fuck off

anyway, she never said anything about confidence because lol. that is a whole other kettle of fish. She simply believes having magic is worthwhile.

But she's not lookin to start that particular argument again even if she won (sucker)]

I am still learning.
awakenerd: (?)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-18 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think anyone stops learning a skill. Even masters are still perfecting until the very end.

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-18 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
It is safe to say I am not a master of anything, so it is a moot point.
awakenerd: (191)

[personal profile] awakenerd 2019-05-18 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's good to know your own limits regardless, but being too modest isn't great either. I'd like to see you in action, some time.
voreaciously: (54)

[personal profile] voreaciously 2019-05-18 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
A lady should always be modest.
