Event: Mirror Image

When: Day 19 evening and on
Where: outside

[As darkness falls in the jungle, an unusually chill breeze rustles through the trees. In its wake is silence, the purified fauna going quiet as if in dread.

Is it just you, or is the night darker tonight?

You may find the cause if you leave the train. Those who are caught alone outside will see the shadows grow suddenly long. The darkness coalesces into a vaguely human form, vague and faceless but radiating cold.

Before you can react the shadows surround you. Deep within, your most bitter, unpleasant feelings rise up in your chest. It's overwhelming, threatening to consume you, but just before it can it suddenly stops. The shadows recoil, dissipating into the jungle.

You're safe, but those negative feelings might be closer to the surface than usual.

Good luck, especially if you're one of the newbies just waking up.]

[NOTES: This event will OOCly end on Wednesday, but feel free to ICly push time forward as much as you like. There will be a followup post at that time, and you can schedule player-run trials any time after.

The emotional effect of this event can be as severe as you want. Your character could just be a bit grumpy, or they could find their emotions totally out of control. The effect lasts a couple of hours or until the character counters it with happier feelings.]

[Have a small white-haired lady in a brown leather coat and fancy suiting. Her eyes are glowing faintly...]

[ nobody is spared his aggro. he's immediately rounding on her, hands curling into fists with every intent of striking if he doesn't get the very specific answers he wants. ]

Where is this?

...A train.

[Her eyes narrow sharply. Yeah, bring it on, she's already been shot today COME AT HER--

no, no. Bad naeva. Stop.]

It's called the Aurora. We're apparently here to restore worlds that ceased to exist, and yes, I am aware how that sounds.

It's not that crazy.

You're the first one who's thought so.

[She shrugs a little.]

We're divided into color-coded teams for the purposes of the Trials that are meant to help restore the stars--ah. Trials are much like competitive games. There doesn't seem to be any coherent theme to them.

But outside trials, we're told that it's working together that'll be most effective in doing the job so we can go home.

[ He's not saying anything.

The expression on his face is pretty telling though. It's like she's speaking and bugs are falling out of her mouth, or something similarly unpleasant. ]

...Not a single person on this train with even a baseline level of teamwork or communication skills.

[WHY ARE YOU ALL LIKE THIS.]

I can work in a team.

[ sort of. when he's the team leader. he just can't communicate. and he's kind of dumb. ]

Can you.

[SHE WILL BELIEVE IT WHEN SHE SEES IT.]

If they listen to what I have to say.

And what precisely makes you most qualified?

[ shrugging. ]

It depends on the situation.

And are you willing to listen to someone else, if they're better suited to a situation?

If it happens, maybe.

[ he is.................... the worst. ]
