[As the sun sets, the Ninth Trial ends. The Hermit and his tent disappear in a shower of square-shaped sparkles, and up above there are new stars in apple, terracotta, cobalt, & violet. Congratulations, guys!

As a parting gift, the Hermit's voice can be heard once more.

Nice job, everyone. Hopefully that was refreshing -- but if you need more apology, you should head to the beach.

Those who follow his suggestion will find a hearty bonfire set up, with food for roasting and beach blankets and cushions scattered around. The nearby water is safe and calm, so enjoy the warm, gentle evening!]

Think we can count this as a bond?

Sure, you'll be learning something.

Good. And if it comes up again, I can teach it to others.

So what is a s'more?

A s'smore is a sandwich of graham crackers, chocolate, and roasty toasty marshmallow.

It is! Marshmallows are nothing but sugar.

So, you just put them together?

Yep, that’s all there is to it.

Huh. No tricks to making them, then?

No, but if you want a perfect s'more, then yes.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

That is so true. Okay! The key to a s'more is always going to be in your marshmallow roasting. You want to get the inside as melty as you can, but you still want some soft crisp on the outside.

All right. So, it would have to be the correct distance from the fire.

Right, too far away and it takes too long, too close and it burns. Getting it right above the coals but not in any actual flame works great.

[is starting to experiment with her marshmallow on-a-stick]

Interesting.

Burning is okay for snacking, but not so great for s'mores since the inside isn't as soft. Just be careful not to shake it if it catches fire, you only want to blow out marshmallows.

Shaking would spread the fire.

{a check for understanding]

Right, and you especially don't want the marshmallow to fly off an hit someone. It's sticky, so that burn isn't going to come off easily!

[that gets a wince]

I'll keep it firmly on the stick.

Until it goes onto the s'more anyways.

Exactly so.

[the marshmallow is looking pretty toasty now, so Aphra removes it from the heat and attempts to get it to stick to the graham cracker without getting goo everywhere.]

Try using both crackers at once to pull it off. Like tongs.
