[ The ground rumbles and shakes - and then opens up. The earth swallows you whole, leaving you in front of . . . blobs . . . Oh they're a little cute, aren't they?

But the world is a bit dark, isn't it? It's a little scary . . . isn't it? ]

[ Not all of you are freed. Hlasoh's blob digs deeper into her flesh, growing bigger and bigger as it starts to absorb her head, and the acid corrodes her skin. She can't laugh if her mouth is completely covered - but then again, she can't breathe, either.

(I mean, you've got your own thing going on there anyway, so who knows how much this actually matters.)

Blood drips down onto Pathiri's face, and then a blob drops from the ceiling to attach to his eyes and ears - he can't hear anymore, can't see anymore -

oh, no, he can see something. He can see . . . Kaiko and Eclair, leaving for the light at the end of the tunnel, the relieved chatter they make. But Pathiri will find blobs hooking to his ankles, trying to drag him down and away - he's being abandoned.

He can see Naan, too, walking away (fully clothed, also) from behind him. None of them so much as turn back.

Kaiko finds her blob strangling her tighter, fingers breaking apart into smaller blobs and her face half melting - but she finds it within herself still to speak, harsh and dissonant, reminiscent of something evil -

"You're looking in a mirror, dear."

Eclair will find the smaller blobs starting to crawl on him, up and on his back and in his clothes, a million legs and feelers like bugs - it's weak, but it's a move of desperation. Though, he only needs to turn his head a few degrees to see Pathiri being accosted, anyway.

Akira and Timur, at least, aren't being accosted by blobs besides the one on Hlasoh, but. . . there is. . . Hlasoh, so. You guys. . . resolve that. ]

[. . . he doesn't know why she tried to strangle him, but ultimately? it doesn't matter. he bolts for her as soon as she hits the ground, skidding across the dirt to crouch next to her. he reaches out to grab at the blob and literally. . . try to tear it from her head]

Hey! Someone tell a stupid joke, or something. . .!

[he can't laugh when he's genuinely panicked for someone else's life!]

[ wow that's gross. squeezing her eyes shut and wrinkling her nose, both in reaction to the way that feels and out of effort— though even though it burns, it doesn't actually feel that much like she has to breathe anymore...? ...maybe she should have expected that.

it's definitely the last bit of icing on a cake that's already passed right through "too much" and into "entirely absurd," though. almost beatifically, confidentially, in something between a half-giggled intentional whisper and simply a hiccupy breathless rasp: ]

[ Well it's not like it has much of a choice!!

Your laughter, your warm hearts, all melt the blobs. They become smaller and smaller, fading to become the same color as that tunnel's walls - every single one of you manage to get the slimy creatures away, though not all of you are unscathed. Particularly Hlasoh will find that her ears have melted somewhat, too, and hearing will be difficult, along with seeing being impossible. Well. . . .

Maybe she won't have to hear the jokes for a while yet. . .

[R.I.P the part of Pathiri's outfit that got sacrificed to the blobs. Actually, r.i.p most of his outfit since he got dripped on and dirtied up. He isn't too injured, just taking some deep breaths to calm down now that the danger has... apparently passed? Still gonna keep his eyes open until they're all out of here even if the blobs are gone, though.]
