Because they're someone who was able to perform a mass soul swap, and run a trial, and trials have it built in that powers can be stripped away.

What, pray tell, stops them from negating any supernatural abilities I may have or just swapping me with a hamster?

And I don't accept chances of failure when I'm not in my own body.

So sneaky politics will have to be for another goal, but I'm sure Loki the trickster god could come up with plenty other things.
