Having good things isn't mutually exclusive to having things to complain about.

They were terrible to you. Its especially bad for the police wannabe. He was doing the exact opposite on what one should do if he encounters someone like he thought you were. And putting up red flags of toxic household. Its inexcusable if he wants to be a good cop.

You have plenty to complain about.

You just have good things too. And its perfectly fine to want to focus on that, just don't think having good means you have to endure bad like that's fair somehow.

[Because sure were just letting yourself be a punching bag there.]

Ah- [ She's not sure what to say. He's coming to her defense and she feels touched and a little flustered, possibly unworthy, but happy too that this person she's getting to know feels genuinely for her. ]

I-I don't know, maybe they have their reasons, or--

[ Er...

. . . Her bangs dip forward and she fidgets. ]

. . . Thank you, Dusk-san. I mean for-- [ Maybe it is difficult for her to say what she wants. Or to admit that maybe... just maybe it wasn't because she was somehow in the wrong or being ungrateful or asking for too much. ]

Thank you.

Everyone's got reasons. Reasons just mean people might be more forgiving, but it never makes what they did right and doesn't earn them a punching bag.

[He smiles gently and gently nudges her shoulder.] Hey, its what friends are for.

And you deserved better. Glad your grandpa and friends could see that.

[ Her smile is a little watery. Not from being sad, no-- just from being so touched. Even in this place, she's already begun to meet such wonderful people and make friends too. People like Dusk. She lifts a hand up to scrub away some of the liquid from her eyes. ]

It seems that... I'm the luckiest then. Because back home, and here, I already have such wonderful friends.

I wouldn't say luckiest. [Because THOSE PEOPLE. Also on a weird amnesia train because of end of the multiverse stuff.]

[That's pretty bad.]

But...yeah, pretty lucky. Good friends make up for a lot.
