[It's that time again: this morning, you're awoken by the jingle associated with an official message from your Chain -- the usual "newbie time" balloon animation and text:]

WELCOME NEW HEROES

[This round's newbies are waking up in their rooms, in the usual nondescript undies or team pyjamas.

Outside, the cold snap has broken. It's back to jungle warmth, though the sudden change in temperature appears to have caused a thick fog. So thick, in fact, that you can't see more than a few feet in front of you -- and it doesn't burn off with the daylight.

For the next few days, Origin Star will be lost in the mist, and should you venture too far, you may be too. Because out there in the humid dim are willow-the-wisps, faint lights in the fog that will lead you to perilous terrain or into the jaws of beasts.

Sometimes, you may also hear a voice -- a distant song from across the sea, in the direction of the corrupted island. If you get too close, long and spindly arms will reach out of the water and pull you down, for a kiss from a scaly human-like being that sucks all the emotion out of you and leaves you feeling hollow and lacking empathy for others. The cure is time -- you'll be better in a day or so, but you can speed it up by basking in the warm feelings of others.]

[There's a dude in the stupid team pjs with.. just a hint of white scales peeking from the collar and sleeves.

He's coming out quite a while after the announcements so he's been reading on the phone.]

[In the lounge is a new jasmine in the outfit. He sits in a military correct posture, though loosely, and... he's also in the sweater. No scales visible.]

[A tall, scrawny redhead with a scarred up face emerges from Room 2, wearing his pyjamas and looking very sleepy and confused.]

[Having settled and gotten dressed, Francis has gone off to explore. You may find this beanpole staring at you, or staring into space while poking at the scars around his right eye in dazed awe.

If he bumps into you or makes eye contact, he'll jolt back into awareness and back away.]

WELL. Probably not getting any demands to name himself but even if Sousei was going to demand something he won't get a chance because he's being instantly flopped on.]

[IS this a newbie? Depends who got the memo and is paying attention, probably.]

[But there's a tiny unicorn around the train. A little under four feet tall, and also very much not moving like a normal horse. There's a lot more....springiness to her.]

[Wearing Sunset's usual geode necklace, but she's also got a hairclip, with the clip part the Senna orange, but with a yellow sun on it and a phone case necklace with her Chain.]

[She's out in the mist, not far from the train, waving giant leaves in the air telekinetically, her horn glowing red as well as the leaves. She's studying the movement of the mist, a hoof rubbing her chin.]

[Without missing a beat, a voice replies from the kitchen.]

[it smells very nice and if sousei does arrive he'll see a young lady in a light blue apron with three large stylised water droplets on it busying herself with chopping vegetables.

[mrrghghggh someone just woke up from hiatus sleep and is groggy and a little grumpy. You can find him drinking coffee in the lounge, or wandering around checking things out, seeing if anything has changed since he last looked.

If he knows you, he's looking for you, too. Just to be sure you're all in one piece.]

[She almost says, but pauses a moment. Because she hasn't seen this guy before and even if it's hard to keep track of all these muted colored apes, the scar is pretty identifying.]
