You know, I'm gonna start to wonder if it's always gonna be a thing, day and night fighting each other.

I wouldn't quite say a problem. More old history, made to sound like a legend.

Equestria was ruled by two sisters, one who controlled the Sun, one who controlled the Moon. But since most ponies slept at night, and enjoyed the day, Celestia was given lots of praise and attention and her sister felt neglected and shunned. Until one day her jealousy grew out of control and she decided to make night eternal.

Celestia was forced to imprison her in the Moon and control the whole day and night cycle. But in a thousand years, the sister now called Nightmare Moon would escape and bring about eternal night.

Or at least that was the legend, but I think something happened because I'm pretty sure I saw the Moon sister and she wasn't trying to bring about eternal night. But the fight a thousand years ago certainly happened.

Perhaps they reconciled, much as they apparently did in my story? Interesting that your deities are present instead of... where ever gods and goddesses usually are, though.

Well, if you're going to be a huge influence on a society, you should be involved in a society, shouldn't you?

Certainly so. It feels rather cruel to make me have to buy back my own memories piece by piece, but here we are.

You are aware that Light and Shadow have no properties of good and evil, are you not? Such affiliations are those that have been created by man.

Of course. Just as no person is inherently bad or good, neither can you ascribe values to something as simple as the dark versus the light... though apparently that's not how I was raised to think.

...Though, it's so fresh in my memory now, it makes me feel torn looking out at the daylight.

Steel yourself against such thoughts. Though I do wonder. How will they taint you over time? Perhaps we will never be destined to see eye to eye.

I must say, I'm very curious as to what exactly you hope to see eye to eye on one day. Your motivations and desires are still completely foreign to me.

I suppose easing my curiosity isn't high on your list of priorities, is it? But you're right in a way, I suppose — whatever may have happened in the past isn't particularly applicable now, when we have a new goal we need to work together in.

...I'd like to hope that there will be no more memory loss involved, though. Once is enough.

Though I will admit I did not spend much time on the Azim Steppe. My duties required me to be elsewhere. And yours was a reclusive people. Ever fighting your wars. Limiting trade.
