EVENT: The Sound of Summer

[After several hours of Kiss or Dare, the bar lights go off and you're let out into the grey pre-dawn. The Cat isn't one for ceremony, so there's no closing fanfare -- but in the sky are new stars in cobalt, pink, & violet. Congratulations to the winners!

You could go home and get some sleep, but you might have a rough time with that. As the sun appears in the sky, there's a horrible ruckus -- the sound of what seems like a million cicadas suddenly springing to life. They're staying in the canopy, not causing particular problems with buzzing around, but they are deafening.

Occasionally, you may hear one particularly low-pitched cicada noise. If you do, cover your ears, else you become hypnotized, overcome by a destructive urge. Those effected will find themselves compelled to act out violence on inanimate objects -- it's only property destruction, but the longer you're effected the more likely you are to lash out at anyone trying to stop you.

Good thing the hypnosis is broken by hugs, because this will be lasting for awhile.

Maybe it's the noise or maybe it's just bad timing, but the arrival of the cicadas is accompanied by the arrival of some new teammates! As always, the notifcation will appear on everyone's Chains:

So you're not usually attracted to people either?

I don’t really ever think about it besides like, aesthetics. There’s been exceptions, but only super recently, like “within the last three months” recently.

80H gave me a dare that was playing Bed, Wed, Behead with the three “most physically attractive” people here, and that was hard.

....I'll admit, the affect did make that game a whole lot easier to do. It would have been a lot harder to figure out before hand.

I don’t mind the game itself, but it is harder when you have to figure out who’s attractive at first, let alone the most. Like I said Randy was my first pick, and that’s probably true, but honestly Cardamom is the only one that’s actually what I would call “my type” if I was picking on a shallow measure. His style is cute in the same way I like mine to be.

Cardamom is the Prince. You’ll see what I mean about style if you meet him.

Sometimes. He has to sneak out to get here.

From his palace, I think? Or at least from a base of operations. His friends and staff don’t like him taking the risk of coming out— If the Malice gets him, it’s over.

Right? But if you see a cute guy with ombré hair and driving a convertible, that’s Cardamom. Sometimes he’ll pick up the Construct’s messages.

What is this guy like?

A convertible in the same terrain as our magical trackless flying train, yes.

He’s peppy? Cheerful, doing his best in a very high-pressure situation. I had to yell at him once and it’s frustrating getting information out of him sometimes, but he’s doing his best for us even if he has to figure it out as he goes.

Why is it hard to get informtion out of him?

Limited time, limited means of communication. And he’s doing a lot better, but he’s done the thing of guessing someone’s reaction would be unfavorable so instead of communicating he just said nothing.

....so he doesn't know much about people at all, huh.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say that. That was a poor decision, but he has strengths in other social areas.

The unknown freaks people out. If you're going to withhold information, there either needs to be a certain degree of trust, or an understanding someone is going to be kind of an asshole.

What other areas?

Not sharing bad news or bad logic isn't an uncommon flaw.

He's friendly, charismatic, motivated and motivating, cheerful, and he believes in the goal he set for us of using positive feelings to power the Aurora.
