[Though the sun should be high in the air, just after noon the sky clouds over, and a steady drizzle begins. While gloomy, it's not particularly harsh, and the warm weather means you might even enjoy being out in it! In fact, the relatively thin and patchy clouds mean you may seem rainbows here and there. It's quite nice, really -- except, that is, that there are now tiny frogs everywhere. Near the train they're safe, but closer to the corrupt areas they're toxic.

At the same time, you hear the jingle associated with an official message from your Chain -- the usual "newbie time" balloon animation and text:]

WELCOME NEW HEROES

[This round's new blood are waking up in their rooms, in the usual nondescript undies or team pyjamas.

For the first hour or so, it seems that'll all that'll happen today. But then there's that all too familiar Trial feeling...

...Aaaand a flashy pink convertible has arrived in the clearing. It's followed up by another message:]

Hello, everyone. Your ever-grateful Prince speaking. It's been awhile and we've got some new faces, so I'm here to answer a few questions.

Buut to spare myself a little, I'm limiting it to one question per hero. I'll tell the truth, no matter what you ask, as long as it's at all reasonable! After that though, I reserve the right to cut you off -- but I won't, probably, if you play nice.

Sooo, how about you come outside and see me?

[Message sent, Cardamom gets out of his car and unfurls a big, incredibly sparkly silver umbrella. It looks like the most intensely holographic nail polish you can buy, and the raindrops only make it worse.]

You were right, you know. That thing you said before, I don’t really remember the way you put it exactly, but something like, it’s not other people’s responsibility if I just shove my feelings on them? I was- I’m still working on it, but... well, I’m working on it.

[Moving right along, now. But it is also fine, because she can see to basic, physical needs. Food, sex, healing, those are always easy to deal with conceptually, even if they can be challenging.]

[bondkeeper]

[ hopping onto a seat at the island, folding her arms on the counter and half-burying her face in them ]

I'll eat.

You are not picky, do I recall that correctly?

[ mumbles ]

Nah, you got it.

[She removes the loaves and rounds of bread from the oven, and it's clear there are different varieties. She slices one a little more personal sized and places something fried in between as steam from the fresh-baked bread wafts upward. She tops it with slaw, sauce, and adds a pickle and olive on a toothpick and sets it aside for a moment to dish out soup in a generously sized bowl.

Those muscles will not feed themselves.

She sets them in front of Breeze, as well as a glass of freshly squeezed juice, light and fruity, and has a small bowl of fruit salad on the side.]

Fried fish sandwich and seafood bisque.

Holy crap.

[voreaciously]

[She is immediately self-conscious.]

Did--did you prefer something else? I can make it for you, if so.

[bondkeeper]

No, no way, it smells amazing. You're gonna help me with this, right? If I don't eat all of it I'm gonna feel like the biggest ass of all time.

[ picking up the sandwich to start. at least she knows she can use her hands for this ]

Do I like, dip it in the soup or eat them separately?

[voreaciously]

Ah, you can dip it if you like, yes. I would sample separately first, but there is no correct or incorrect way to eat this.

[But she will take half the sandwich from her plate--not the olive and pickle half, she's not that much of an asshole--and get a plate for herself.]

My apologies, I did remember you have a smaller appetite, I simply...

[what does that fucking look like in practise. Should she give you coral amounts?? would that be insulting????]

[ makes vague "it's fine, it's fine" noises through her mouthful of fish sandwich ]

[The outside of the sandwich is fried to a fine crisp, the inside is warm, tender, and juicy. Whatever fish it is is of surprising quality, melting on the tongue and spreading its delectable flavour.

It crunches so satisfyingly despite the warm fullness of bread muffling it, slightly. It's topped with oats and carefully brushed with a little honey. Not enough to overwhelm, just enough to keep things interesting.]

[ god. she literally, unironically, does not have the palette to fully appreciate how good this is. but it is still amazing. takes like three more bites out of the sandwich before she manages to get herself to put it down long enough to try the bisque ]

The bisque is creamy and flavourful, full of body. It makes the most of itself without being too heavy.

And the bits of seafood are juicy unto themselves, not at all overcooked.

Anyway it's good, y'all.]
