BOND-Y BEACH

Who: Eliza, Fang and interested parties
When: Day 21, morning
Where: The beach

[Remember on Day 12 when we got back actually-pretty beaches and actually-safe shallows? WELL. Today there's a mass message from one of your resident cute Thymes on ChainChat!]

Eliza: hi hi hi!
Eliza: Do you know how to swim? 🏊🌊
Eliza: Do you want to learn how?? Knowing how to swim is great for fun and saftey 🐠
Eliza: Meet us on the beach for lessons today 🏖️

[If you decide to follow up on that and head in that direction, or are just out on the beach for other reasons, you'll find Eliza (in a cute two-piece) and Fang (in boring black board shorts, but check those hella scars) hanging out along the shoreline, a bottle or two of sunscreen and Thyme-colored towels at their feet! If you pass close enough you may be greeted by a friendly wave or a business-like nod.]

Did you want to participate in our swimming lessons?

Hm... Have you ever seen videos of eagles swimming? Or petrels?
malignstar: http://zeecosh.tumblr.com/commissions (i realize that i'm the one confused)

Not that I can remember off the top of my head.

They use their wings to swim. Eagles can paddle across the surface, and petrels dive underwater.

That's pretty awesome. I've never seen a raptor swim.

They're not really meant for it, but sometimes you have to swim when you're a fish-hunter.
malignstar: (will you play this game)

[personal profile] malignstar 2019-05-04 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
So you think I could be like them?

I think it could work for short distances. You should check if you can take off from the water, too.

I guess I can try once I get swimming down.

Oh, right! Yes, basics first.

[ Going to try belly flopping so he can give his wings a proper test this time ]

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2019-05-07 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[how's that working out]
malignstar: (but why)

[personal profile] malignstar 2019-05-08 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ Looks like a distressed baby duck ]

Why do they have to be so unwieldy...

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2019-05-08 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, let's see how you swim with them just half-spread. At least more surface area is better for floating.

[ Tries to adjust wings and does seem to be functioning slightly better ]

Downside though, you might be stuck with doggie-paddle and a partial breaststroke. I don't think an overarm stroke will really work with those?
malignstar: (hearts that have no scars to show)

[personal profile] malignstar 2019-05-08 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Breaststroke?

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2019-05-08 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's the one where you swim like a frog.
malignstar: (and for that forsake it all)

[personal profile] malignstar 2019-05-08 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
How do frogs swim again?
malignstar: (just a good boy)

[personal profile] malignstar 2019-05-08 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, you'd do that for me?
bowtiedbones: (22)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2019-05-08 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
It would be a poor swimming lesson if I wouldn't.
malignstar: (just a drop of rain)

[personal profile] malignstar 2019-05-08 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
All right. Show me what you've got.

[wading into the water]

For swimming quickly, normally this would have your head going underwater, but I'll show you the slow way first.
