Event: A Prelude

Who: Everyone!
When: Day 8, evening
Where: around

[It's a beautiful evening in the jungle tonight. It's warmer than usual, and some new plants have appeared, black vines that climb up the trees near the Aurora, opening hundreds of tiny white flowers that glow in the darkness. They let of a sweet smell that's soothing like a chamomile tea, and are filled with a dew that, if consumed, leaves characters feeling relaxed and just a little more likely to act on positive impulses.

However, the vines of this plant aren't so harmless. When broken they drip a milky white substance which irritates the skin, leaving red welts that burn and last anywhere from an hour to a full day, depending on how long the substance is in contact. Eating this won't kill you but it'll give you really intense heartburn and nausea for a few hours.

Additionally, if you're walking around in the nearby jungle, you might trip over one of the small cracks that have appeared in the forest floor. Mostly they're not visible underneath the grass and underbrush, but the bigger ones have caused a slight unevenness in the ground that can catch careless toes. There doesn't seem to be any particular pattern or origin to the cracks, nor do they have any other affect on their surroundings. They're just there, suddenly, in a roughly 100-foot radius from the train.

But there's plenty of reason to ignore these natural phenomenon, because there are some new teammates waking up in your carriages! In response to this new wave of arrivals, existing players will hear a cute jingling ringtone come from their Chain. Upon checking, the screen displays... a silly animation of balloons and confetti and the words "WELCOME NEW HEROES", which goes away on its own after a few seconds or when characters tap it. The same display is shown on the big screen in the lounge, in which trays full of colourful drinks have mysteriously appeared. The drinks taste like Kool-Aid and change some part of you the corresponding colour -- pink hair, blue skin, purple eyes, or maybe just a literal green thumb!]

[[OOC NOTE: Newbies can review the arrival scenario on the navigation page if necessary. The drinks in the lounge come in any colour you want, and cause colour shift in whatever and however large an area you want. It could just be a strand of hair or it could be your entire body, whatever you feel like playing with.]]

I know. But they look closer to deer than horses in reality.
purrtagonist: (I prod the corpse with my soggy pickle)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-18 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. . .

[blinks some more]

. . . sorry? Are you saying unicorns look closer to deer than horses in reality?
nihilmancy: (Curious)

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2019-01-18 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Like an elk or moose. With a horn.
purrtagonist: (I should probably roll for Georgia)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-18 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[a loooooong long pause]

The one I saw back home was definitely more horse-like than deer-like.
purrtagonist: (You punch the fire)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-18 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
[just]

[raises]

[a brow]

. . . maybe some unicorns are horse-like, while others are deer-liek.
nihilmancy: (Curious)

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2019-01-18 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Do you remember how you met a Unicorn?
purrtagonist: (can everyone stop overreacting?)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-18 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I do.

[. . . not elaborating, though]
nihilmancy: (Surprised)

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2019-01-18 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I don't. I just know how they should be. Curious.
purrtagonist: (who would’ve guessed the devil’s an assh)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-18 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[oh. . .!]

Ah. . . you don't have your memories?
nihilmancy: (Neutral 2)

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2019-01-18 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
I have regained a few since coming here.
purrtagonist: and suplex a deer (Can’t you just outrun)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-23 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
But you didn't arrive here with them all in tow.

[huh. . .]

[. . .]

That sucks.

[b-blunt]
nihilmancy: (Wistful)

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2019-01-23 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Er, yes. I suppose it might at that.
purrtagonist: (Your bees are slightly drunk)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-24 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[a soft snort]

I can't say I'd know.

[taps his temple with one hand; he's still got everything in tact, here]
nihilmancy: (A Look)

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2019-01-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
It's great. I love being brain damaged.
purrtagonist: from the devil. for your own safety (Everyone please stand 20 feet away)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2019-01-26 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[a-ah. that gets a sympathetic look out of him]

[he pauses, considering, before speaking again]

. . . I don't really understand how I can help. But if there's any way that I can, let me know.
