Physical therapist? What does this mean?

He helps people with rehabilitation from or treatment of injuries. Like if someone's been unable to walk for a while from surgery or a broken bone, he'll coach them back into using that leg again.

I did not realize there was a specialist for that sort of thing. And his skill is helped by his regenerative rate, as you put it?

His regenerative rate is good for magic workings, but he doesn't use that for PT.

Why not? Would it not make things better for his patients?

Magic healing is a different field than physical therapy. You can't just cast a spell and make an atrophied limb work again.

I suppose there would have to be some limit, yes.

If they require other care, they can go to a healer mage besides seeing a therapist or their doctor. You don't go to one single person for all your medical needs.

We treat them as two halves of the same coin.

They do seem well balanced in your world. In general, your world seems to maintain a healthy balance. Others would most likely envy such a thing.

It's probably worth mentioning that we have taboos against using magic for violence.

Not really. A lot of people here are from worlds where magic is weaponized.

Ah, you mean it is not allowed at all? By anyone. How would that be enforced?

There’s some laws to reprimand abuse of magic as a weapon, the same as there are for crimes using weapons or bodily violence, but violations are uncommon. Councils and circles will also drive out and disbar someone who’s learning with malicious intent or flippancy. But mostly, by now it’s part of our social fabric. Other countries in our world have the same pacifist attitude— high level mages refused to be used as or considered as weapons, and their power couldn’t be argued with.

Interesting. So it is based on a sort of mutual agreement. Your world sounds so... peaceful. It is almost difficult to believe.

It works pretty well for us.
