Or, you know, there's morning glories blooming all around the train today. Mostly white but with a few brilliant crimson flowers (do morning glories come in that color?), all of them smell sweet and lovely, though the red ones smell a bit like... cinnamon? They're also blooming all day, which is weird.

The scent wafts pleasantly through the train through the morning. The sweet scent brings the urge to be honest and express your emotions freely. The more spiced scent... might make you randy? No not the tall redhead. The other kind.

In either case neither effect is generally overwhelming, and can in most cases be overcome, if you happen to notice you're under any influence in the first place. The effects are subtle enough.

In the afternoon a light rain will crush the flowers, making the scents heavier, and the effects stronger for a few hours, before it all clears up in the evening.]

Yeah. I was in Crossbell trying to stop her and hers at the time.

What did she want? I know what it was called but I didn't really think about the details.

I never really saw her at the time, and her people tend to... operate under their own motives.

... But it was basically to use our daughter as a weapon.

[ Aside from the one from Daughter Simulator they had recently. ]

Yeah. She was that tree you guys were chatting about.

Little bit. It's not like you knew, though, so.

[ The very next question on his mind is "is your daughter still a tree?" but somehow that seems a little too tactless to ask. ]

So how'd it end up going, anyway?

We won. An' she's not a tree anymore.

That left room for Erebonia to annex Crossbell, though, so mixed victories.

[ There is something inside of him that gets viscerally, irrationally annoyed at the thought of annexation... but he doesn't understand that reaction so he's ignoring it. ]

Sounds like a lot of complicated stuff went on there.

So much. That's all years ago for me, though. You too, once you've got memories of newer stuff, if you don't already.

Distraction would be nice. It's all in the past, I just... never thought too hard about what it looked like from the outside. Or the side of the instigators.

[pulling Rean's hand from his shoulder, but only so they can hold hands.]
