[It's a lovely day out on the recently purified island! No point in staying cooped up in the train all the time, let's stretch those muscles!

The jungle around the train has given way to peaceful woods, full of the song of birds and pleasant dappled shade. The branches are heavy with ripe fruit, begging to picked and tasted. There's apple like fruit with a sweet and pleasant taste, a strangely savory and spicy fruit encased in a coconut-like shell, herbs and flowers that smell like they would be fine to cook or brew tea with (but are protected by sharp thorns, be careful!) and tart grape-like fruits on vines that produce a brief feeling of chatty euphoria. But maybe shoving exotic plants isn't your style. Maybe you'd just prefer a walk, or a jaunt through the caves?

Further afield there's a whole town to explore, still in the tainted regions of the island! Perhaps one wants to look around, or see if they can salvage some supplies from the buildings. But watch out for the giant reptiles! They have an awfully strong appetite!

Or maybe you'd like a trip to the beach? It's a fine day, with a nice breeze. Just be careful. High tide is coming, and the tainted water isn't too far off, waiting to drag you under...]

[In the forest, Hlasoh is hovering among the branches of the trees, collecting some of the higher up fruit in a basket.

She's wearing the rather jaunty shorts combo of the Licorice uniform, rather than the more usual dress. As she floats down she might address you!]

You're flying.

[That's a lot more than the levitation she's seen from mages, damn.]

[She waves her chain, but doesn't take her eyes off of Tabby.

Not Tabby. Hlasoh. Right.]

I mean, in theory. I've been wondering how that function works.

[She hovers down, a few inches off the ground.]

You want to fly? Just so you know, there are limitations. Mm, it seems less powerful than it was in my world.

[Emilia watches the descent, apparently fascinated.]

How so?

It's much more tiring than walking, and you can't move much faster than brisk jog. Nor can I go much higher than about thirty feet off the ground. Still, it is quite useful. There's nothing quite like breaking the fetters of the earth, so to say.

[Emilia frowns.]

It still sounds useful to be able to maneuver in three dimensions. I wonder if they don't want you going too far from the train.

[...The corner of her mouth turns up.]

I know how to find out. If I can get my flying broom, do you want to help me try it out?

Why would you make a broom fly? That seems entirely useless.

Because I can't fly and it's faster than going by bike.

What is a bike?

It's - it's a little vehicle, you pedal it. It has wheels. Look, it's just how I get around.

No, for the ground.

That's close enough. ... Anyway, flight is fastest. Brooms are easy to store. That's why.

Then why is it a broom at all? Those are for cleaning with.

Like I said - easy to store, easy to hide. Most people have an animal like a wyvern or a griffin for flight travel but animals don't like the undead.

...You don't really have witch folktales where you're from, do you?

We do. They are clearly quite different. To say nothing of the actual witches. I am one, after all.

I wouldn't say most, but people that can afford to keep a flying steed ... griffin is the most common. Or wyvern. Brooms don't eat a lot or make noise. Improvement, I think.

[Emilia smiles a bit at the witch assertion.]

In storybooks where I'm from they always have brooms to fly on, black cauldrons for potions, black cats, big pointed hats. I like the concept, although I never really did get the hang of potions.

[Emilia is in the mostly-brown travel outfit she bought with sparks, including boots and a tough oilskin coat. She has a bag at her side that she's double-checking the straps on before she heads out.]
